| adnielsen (277), Fort Collins, Colorado | | March 14, 2012 Not the best atmosphere, as it’s a little cramped and a bit hard to find your way around. The selection is very impressive, especially with imports. Tons of Belgians, Germans, and a ton of Eastern Europe stuff. Of course, a ton of the bottles were covered in dust, so it was hard to tell how long things were sitting around. The main disappointment was that just about nothing was refrigerated including their IPAs. Definitely worth a stop. | | Swillbur (24), Arizona | | January 25, 2012 I used to love this place when i didn’t know any better about prices. They are on the HIGHER SIDE and i have ran into some rude employees. One of the owners is extremely rude, there are better places to buy beer in AZ. The one plus is they rent out lockers in their cellar for a reasonable price. | | BOLTZ7555 (56), Phoenix, Arizona | | January 1, 2012 Definitely one of the best places to find rarer offerings. Massive selection that is mostly grouped together. Cooler wall toward the back and also downstairs. Haven’t really found any gems down there but I’ll keep looking. Lots of dusty Belgians and European brews...every once in a while, I think they pull everything off the shelf and reorganize. Organized enough to find what you’re looking for and the staff is nice and personable. | | illinismitty (275), Nashville, Tennessee | | June 26, 2011 Wow. What a disorganized dumpy place- but in a good way. They definitely get some excellent beers, but you really have to look over two and three times because there is not much organization. HOWEVER, I was really interested in buying a few IPAs, but the clerk had no clue how old they were. I had to deduct some points for that, because I really wanted to take some west coast IPAs back to the hotel and did not want to buy old stuff ( and I bet some of it was old). I still walked out of there with some nice stuff. Expect to find west coat stuff like Alesmith, Firestone Walker, Lost Abbey, Marin. Some nice Belgians in there as well, in addition to the regional stuff from CO and AZ. | | Ibrew2or3 (248), Phoenix, Arizona | | April 14, 2011 Cool placed. The fist thing I noticed walking in was all the Russian / Romanian beer in a small alcove to the right. I was able to scare up a new Baltic Porter rating (Amber Grand Imperial Porter frikin ROCKED!). Overall a dusty mostly organized selection. There are a load of dusty delicate German beers in here to stay for away from unless it is a huge Eisbock or the like. Nice selection of local and Western US offerings where it appears you can make singles from pretty much any 6 or 4 pack. I love seeing Speedway. I’ll be back for sure. | | n2pux (13), Houston, Texas | | February 7, 2011 Best beer selection in AZ ...even better than Papago. Every now & then, they sneak in some really hard-to-find items. I think it was about 5 years ago, I actually found Westy 12, 8, & 6 there. Oddly enough, the AJ’s on Central had some too at the same time. But once it was gone, I never saw it again. Of course, the fact that they had it at all tells you something about how serious they are there about beer. The place looks like six pounds of sh!t in a five pound bag. But it is friggin awesome! | | msante79 (253), Mount Prospect, Illinois | | November 21, 2010 Best selection I have seen in my short visit to Phoenix. Went there for FW 14 which I was informed someone came in 2 days earlier and bought the last 9 bottles, but that was ok as this beer is in high demand. They had plenty of other beers that I did not see any of the 3 Bevmo’s I went to. Was able to pick up some Rock Art Vermonster and Squatters Outer Darkness. Not the most visual pleasing place I ahve been to, but they made up it with selection and service. | | dcschiller (42), Scottsdale, Arizona | | September 12, 2010 Great selection of beers-wish that the store was kept cooler however. Decent prices and helpful staff. The bar area is cozy and service is good. There is a louge area in the back though and a couple of bar tables. They can also cellar beers for you if you’d like. Tap selection is inconsistent. Sometimes they’ll have a couple of pretty rare beers, but other time they’ll have somewhat pedestrian beers. Good place to hang out though and I’ve made the 20-30 minute drive many times because of the selection and staff. | EHopper (2), Minnesota does not count - explanation | | February 27, 2010 Just had the most incredible time, great help from someone who really knew their beer, but it was more than help, like meeting new friends. | | daknole (204), Scottsdale, Arizona | | January 25, 2010 Great selection of some hard to find beers and some aged ones too(not on purpose!)...from the outside it looks like a dive that only a bum would buy stuff from but from the inside its cool as hell. |
