| moulesfrites (10), Florida | | November 18, 2009 Established hole in the wall bar in South Beach. Other places provide better ambiance for my mood...unless I want to wallow in my sorrows. Or play darts. Food bites here are pretty good. Be sure to check out the Abbey brews. | | quiquesan (12), Miami, Florida | | August 30, 2009 This place is a hole in the wall but has some great private beers. They don’t brew on site but the monastery themed beers are all brewed for this place only with their own recipe. Gets kind of crowded and has only 4 booths and maybe a dozen bar stools. Still a nice dive to have some good belgium style beers. FYI, even though the children box is checked, I wouldn’t bring my kid into this place after 4 PM. | | Beerlando (43), Orlando, Florida | | June 29, 2009 Visited on June 26, 2009. Hole in the wall type of place located within walking distance of the South Beach resorts, but not in the nicest of areas. If you walk here from the beach, go down Lincoln Rd. and then cross over, as the walk we took down 16th street was a little sketchy. The interior is sparse, seating maybe 20 people, tops. Dark and dingy I can deal with, but smoking I cannot....and this place can get really smoky. Due to that fact, I quickly slugged down 3 of the 4 house beers that were on tap (IPA, Imperial Stout, Dubbel....passed on the Doppelbock). The beers, which are contract brewed by Florida Beer Co. in Melbourne, were all decent but nothing special. It all comes back to the smoking issue with me, as I felt like I needed to jump in the ocean with all my clothes on after leaving this joint. Decent place if you don’t mind that, but I doubt I’ll be back. Too many other things to see and do in SoBe. | | Butters (150), Virginia | | March 24, 2009 Awesome hole in the wall! Lots of charm. Pink Floyd was playing on the flatscreen above the bar, but that is the only piece of modern equipment in the place. Very dimly lit and smokey as hell. But other than that, a great place to rate. The bartender, though a little crotchety, is a true beer lover and gives out samples for only a buck! I gained a dozen ratings for less than $20. Now that’s value. Fantastic old bottle collection complete with the largest dust bunnies you’ve ever seen. An absolute must on any trip to Miami! | | smith4498 (16), Miami, Florida | | March 20, 2009 TINY place with about a 15 foot bar and 4 or 5 tables. Great selection of taps (for Miami) and 1 cask ale (Hobgoblin that day) and small but decent bottle selection. It’s hard to find good draft beer in Miami. It was dark and dusty but had a cozy feel to it. Bartender Dave was pleasant. The 3 house beers were pretty good. The only negative thing was the smoking. I’ll definately go back. | | Ibrew2or3 (161), Safety Harbor, Florida | | February 8, 2009 Luckily found a metered spot about two doors down (bring change). I only saw 1 Lamborghini on the drive in and none on the way out. What has this place come to? Very small place with three fairly high gravity house beers on at the time of my visit. They had a few guest taps too. I didn’t’ care for the pro smoking policy. The Dubbel was solid and the malt forward IPA was decent. With the smoking issue I doubt I’ll be back unless it is right when they open. | | Rustyham (25), miami, Florida | | January 11, 2009 Lovely location reminiscent of a NY pub. The selection is rather small, about 30 beers, but the do represent every style you could want in interesting ways, so I am not complaining. Their homebrews are damn good, plus it is within walking distance of Zekes and Gulf Liquors, and brisk walk to Abraxas. Great addition to a Miami Beach Pub Crawl. | | Grovlam (46), Copenhagen, Denmark | | January 8, 2009 Just of Lincoln road very easy to find is this little place. Very dark loud and smoke filed which kind of set the tone of the place. Bartender could even hear what I was trying to say to him which was very irritating. 3 house brews on tap and a mix of other beers on tap and bottle. Not a place I would visit again unless they had some special brews on and I just happened to be in Miami Beach again. | | cbeers21 (22), Miami, Florida | | December 18, 2008 Nice little joint here. Out of the way in South Beach but definately worth a stop. Small and a little smokey, but with quality brews on tap and a solid selection of bottles. Friendly owner and bartenders, awesome dudes. Good prices. I really like this place | | knightdr (12), Valrico, Florida | | November 20, 2008 Hit the Abbey on a weekend night in October. Beat up tables and bar with carved graffiti on the walls. Dark and packed with patrons. Think I had the Double but was too dark/loud to know if they actually served the right beer. The Chimay my wife had was dead on and enjoyable. Served in appropriate glassware. Not particularly my ideal craft beer environment, but beer was good. |
