| mrjaxson (20), Wisconsin | | January 1, 2012 This is the fifth member of the Lowlands Group of restaurants in and around Milwaukee (others are Cafe Hollander, Trocadero and two called Cafe Centraal). Cafe Benelux, like the others, has a remarkable selection of Belgian-style ales on tap plus a crazy-long beer menu that gets reprinted every few months. The bar area here is a bit cramped, with restaurant seating packed in close. The food selections are excellent (a pannenkoeken is certainly worth trying). The cafe is in a very trendy neighborhood (shopping, restaurants and theaters nearby) , so finding street parking can be a challenge. I’m looking forward to trying the rooftop patio seating next summer. | | savnac (155), Anchorage, Alaska | | December 29, 2011 [ Updated February 23, 2012 ] Was here in October. My wife and I hung out at the bar for hours, eating, drinking and watching the World Series. Very nice, newer place with a pretty big bar area and lots of dinner seating. Service was very good, the bartender didn’t pretend to know everything about every beer but still was very helpful. Selection was huge, tons of local, domestic and import drafts and even more bottles, it’s almost overwhelming. Food was very good and the prices seemed more than fair for what you got. This is a must stop if you find yourself in Milwaukee. |
