| drowland (116), Tallahassee, Florida | | May 16, 2012 Stopped by recently on a trip up to the Milwaukee area for a wedding.
Looks like complete crap from the outside, but don’t let that fool you. Go inside and look at the beers... don’t let it fool you!
Nobody spoke to me once while I was in the store, but the checkout lady was nice enough, I suppose. Mainly the store is full of people ordering case after case of booze. The announcements over the sound system got old fast.
Awesome selection by any standards I’ve seen in Florida. Tons of Shelton Brothers stuff. Mikkeller, Fantome, and 3 Fonteinen are just sitting on the shelf, as well as a classic Wisconsin selection (everything under the sun). I was able to get Buffalo Trace BA Mikkeller Black, and many more.
Prices seemed fine for what they had.
Overall, if you’re at the airport and don’t have much time, like I did, this is your stop. I ended up spending way more than I should have! | | elkhunter36 (10), Wisconsin | | April 25, 2012 Best bottle selection in Milwaukee. | | ryanfolty (104), Minneapolis, Minnesota | | February 28, 2012 Got to visit this store today and was not disappointed, well except for the questionable location and kind of run down store. Selection was great, so much good stuff there that it just gets too hard to choose. The beer selection was a tad better than the Waukesha store, but the glassware selection was best in class. Goose Island pint glass for $2, thank you very much. Service was almost non-existent like the other store which is fine but the checkout lady was nice and boxed up my beer and glass for me. | | coharahawk (30), Milwaukee, Wisconsin | | January 27, 2012 Discount is head and shoulders above the rest of the beer stores in Milwaukee. It is a former grocery store (with minimal updates) that has been converted to a huge liquor store. Their selection is amazing. They generally get large quantities of new releases and therefore with have "overstock" of uncommon beers. For example, you may be able to grab a NG Unplugged or Tyranena Brewers Gone Wild from the previous year. The service has always been great and prices lower than anywhere else. I drive across town frequently to come see what’s new. I don’t think I’ve walked out of there with less than $50 worth of beer Go there if you’re in Milwaukee. | 400lb_midget (4), West Bend, Wisconsin does not count - explanation | | December 28, 2011 Love this place!!! I drive 30 miles out of my way to shop here. Huge selection of Import beers and a fantastic craft selection. They have all of your needs for spirits and wine also. Check it out if you’re in the area. | | savnac (155), Anchorage, Alaska | | December 6, 2011 Stopped in here a few times on our Milwaukee trip. Doesn’t look the best from the outside but a bit nicer inside and well organized. Great service, very helpful. Selection is outstanding, lots of local, mid-west and other great micros and imports. Value is great, nothing seemed overpriced. This is a must stop if in Milwaukee. | | arkurzynski (58), West Bend, Wisconsin | | November 1, 2011 Some of the best selection you’re going to find in the state. Often first to have most releases. Much more organized than the Waukesha location. Prices are on par. Staff always helpful. | | jsquire (47), St. Marys, Ohio | | October 23, 2011 Great bottle shop for Wisconsin beers, lots of micros, and a large import selection. I went up for the New Glarus Begian Red and they had a ton of New Glarus bottles there. Some singles. Well worth the trip. | | GhostFace (12), Wisconsin | | September 3, 2011 If you want it they have it! Unmatched selection of craft and import beers. The store doesn’t look like much from the curb but inside it’s a beer lover’s dream! Know what you are shopping for or be prepared to browse for a while.. Prices are good and they offer good ’ole fashioned service unlike the big box retailers. All the latest and high end liquors you will find here as well, with a decent wine selection. Worth the drive if you can’t find what you are looking for in your area. They also have a location in Waukesha, WI but the Milwaukee store is where you want to shop. | | nickd717 (80), San Francisco, California | | August 7, 2011 From the outside this looks like your typical large liquor store. From the inside this looks like your typical large liquor store. So you walk back to the part of the store where you expect to see 5000 cases of BMC and a sixer two of Spotted Cow and Sam Adams and whatnot, when awwwww SNAP dogg! A huge beer section jumps out at you. You name it, they’ve got it. Probably 20 New Glarus beers, some of them a couple years removed from their releases. Some other good vintage beers, along with just about everything that’s seen distribution in Milwaukee recently. Prices are very reasonable. No frills really, and the decor is certainly not impressive, but it’s one hell of a store which can be your one-stop shop for loading up on Wisconsin beer. |
