Hope you like Hofbrau beers and folks who like to drink too much. Love the idea but it’s more of a tourist attraction than anything.

GREAT GERMAN FOOD!!!. Selection of tap beers are limited to Hofbrau which is good. Beer is pretty cheep with good specials.

The name says exactly what you get. Hofbrau beer, great German food, and a feeling like you’re in Germany. Get you friends together to drink from the shotski or pound some nails into a log. Be forewarned; that beer will sneak up on you!

Stopped by late night Saturday after a Marquette game. This place was absolutely jammed, and seemed designed really poorly to accommodate the crowd. It’s basically just a room of picnic tables and a long narrow hallway. The tables were well full, so we were pushed up against the wall. As stated, this is a Hofbrau Haus - focus mostly on their beers. I think this would be a fun place on a quieter day - not really fun at all when packed. Others mentioned outdoor seating, perhaps the key is a summer visit.

5 or 6 Hofbrau beers to choose from in a long narrow bar with some communal tables in back and a long bar up front. Nice lunch special on a Monday (free sausage with any drink). Limited menu for lunch, but tasty German basics. Nothing amazing but a friendly relaxed place to drink some german beers and while a little kitschy feeling I’m sure you could have a blast putting down liters with the crowd on the weekends.

Great liters of fresh imported Hofbrau beers. There’s shotskis for people wanting to get loaded on booze, boots of beer, live music occasionally, picnic table style seating in addition to the bar stools, a giant log in which to pound nails into, and typical imported German liquors. The 3 bratwurst chili is fantastic.

This place maybe some of the most fun in Milwaukee. If you had a large group of friends who were even remotely interested in beer, this would be the place to take them. Very good selection of German beers and full selection of Hofbrau as its affiliated with them. Verycool outdoor seating in the back and The Milwaukee Brat House is right next door if you get hungry.

Unlike its Bavarian sister, the Old German Beer Hall, formerly Guse’s City Hall, is comparatively smaller with a bar and a few windowside booths in the front and a large communal "beerhall" towards the rear. Still... no complaints here. There is a small stage where drunken revelers can do the oom-pah-pah routine. Much like the places you’d find in Munich, this bar is tied to a brewery - Hofbrau; the limited taps include their regular helles beer (Original), the toasty dark beer, a bock, a kindl - which is a Berlin style, a seasonal and an amber. Sehr gute. Fresh, tasty and filling. The food was much like one would find in Germany: heavy on the wursts, kraut and potatoes. They also serve spatzle as a side; this is very filling for long nights of vielgetrunkenheit. And the wurst? You gotta know it’s fresh since it made by the world famous Usingers, which is literally across the street. (You can almost, but not quite, hear the pigs squealing.) Add to this, a wide variety of German beerhall kitsch scattered among the walls, some good service - though no red-faced braufrau toting giant liter mass of bier, and a generally pleasant atmosphere that begs one to hang around and Milwaukee has one fine beer bar. Oh ja! On Sundays (11am-2pm) all litres are half-priced.

This place shouldn’t even count if all you can get is Hofbrau. That’s my vision of hell.
