| freezy (12), Minnesota | | September 25, 2011 [ Updated September 27, 2011 ] it’s zur not zum. no wonder I couldn’t find this listing. There is another review for zur now. I love this place, kinda spendy by Minneapolis standards ($18 - $28 per plate) but Mario rocks.
For the love of God people it isn’t Gustaf’s or Gasthof’s. This isn’t a person it is a place.
Please stop Scandinavian-izing this name. There are more Germans in Minnesota than "Ya’ Betchas"
Gasthof = Guest House.
zur = of
Gemütlichkeit = coziness/friendliness | | BVery (227), Burnsville, Minnesota | | July 11, 2011 A favorite of the locals, and a great party spot. Not really a craft beer destination, but they have plenty of German beers on tap, good food, and everyone seems to have a ton of fun here. | | ryanfolty (104), Minneapolis, Minnesota | | July 8, 2011 What a fun place to hang out, great atmosphere, great service and great german food! Just not a great craft beer place. | | fata2683 (125), Tucson, Arizona | | June 18, 2011 Neat German beer hall look inside. Food is expensive but very good and reminded us of our years living in Germany. Beer on tap was average with your well known German brands. I would imagine you would come here for the food not the beer. | | JaBier (68), Capital City, Ohio | | November 14, 2010 My brother saw this place featured on Man v. Food and said I absolutely had to go when in MN and let him know how it was. Split a meal for two with my friend. Had jaegerschnitzel, bratwurst, rouladen, rotkraut, sauerkraut, spaetzle, mashed potatoes, ham steak and dumplings. I thought with all these things in one meal they would be small portions...they weren’t. Lots of food and a shot of pear schnapps (they were out of Apfelkorn) for $46. Oh, and the beer selection was okay. Had some good German beers. Needless to say, the beer wasn’t why we went here. Good stuff and worth the stop. | | kbutler1 (65), Minnesota | | June 7, 2010 Oh Gasthof’s. Fun place to go but not if you are looking for american craft beer. Excellent food which can be a little pricey. Great ambiance in the dining hall as the servers and crowd really interact well. Be prepared to go downstairs for polka music and drinking from Das Boot! Hard to stay very sober here. | | beerguybubba (12), , Minnesota | | January 14, 2009 Great atmosphere and food, but was lacking anything special as far as beer goes. Would like to see a few different beers that are hard to get a hold of. Very fun place though! | | KAF (100), Coralville, Iowa | | January 28, 2008 They have the standard German selection here on tap (10 or so beers). Nothing special though. The atmosphere was great. They have boots for you to drink out of as well which is always fun. Fun place to go and have a drink but if you’re looking for rare beers you will have to try somewhere else. | | GaltScat (19), Minneapolis, Minnesota | | January 26, 2008 German food, German beer, German atmosphere well, very German. Authentic and fun. | | badgerben (80), Blaine, Minnesota | | June 26, 2007 Well, they certainly will not have anything hard to find, but for a Germany drinking hall, this place is hard to beat. 10 or so German beers on tap, very tasty food, excellent atmosphere on the weekends. |
