| ElGaucho (183), Minnetonka, Minnesota | | January 12, 2012 Nice new place located in the Lyn-Lake area of Uptown that is quickly becoming a beer-lovers’ destination area, with Bryant Lake Bowl, Herkimer, Bulldog and Lyndale Taphouse all within walking distance. What distinguishes Muddy Waters as a beer place is it’s large selection of high quality, and in some cases, hard-to-find, craft beers. You might find Surly Darkness on tap here or something yummy from Southern Tier. It also has a nice, albeit somewhat narrow, between-building patio during nicer weather. The one detraction is the prices. You’ll pay $7 for a snifter of their better beers on tap. If they can fix that, Muddy Waters will have few rivals among the upper echelon of Twin Cities craft beer spots. | | mtjoseph (10), Murderapolis, Minnesota | | December 18, 2011 Nice place, and a solid upgrade from the previous location. Wonderful beer selection of both tap and bottles. Highly recommended for beer as well as food. The upscale bar food includes really unique takes on classic dishes and sammys. Only downside is the price. The beers are a tad overpriced by about a dollar a beer compared to most places. Still won’t bat an eye to not going here. | | BVery (227), Burnsville, Minnesota | | December 3, 2011 Great spot in Uptown. About 30 taps of good stuff and a nice local representation. Kind of a hippy urban coffee shop vibe but its cool. | | kbutler1 (65), Minnesota | | October 2, 2011 Stopped in here after a freind at work suggested trying it as a beer bar. This is a new location after their previous locations rent skyrocketed and they were forced to move. They previously were jsut a coffee house but at the new spot, they added 30 tap lines and opened up as a combo restaurant/craft beer bar/coffee house. We sat at the bar and I got a Breakfast Stout while my GF got a Coffee Bender. We were there for brunch so we got a breakfast burrito, malt waffles, and some yucca fries. Everything was really good. My only complaint was an extra small little syrup was $1 (what the hell is up with that?!). Total bill for 2 beers, food, and 2 to-go coffees came to $39, not too bad. $5 for the Surly and $7 for the Founders Breakfast stout. Pretty cool interior, dark wood and mirrors. Nice outside patio. Service was good, I think Tea was our bartender. |
