Visited on a Sat. night @ 7:30. Had to wait about 30 minutes, but we snagged some brews at the bar, so no worries. 4 house taps + 8ish other locals (Lift Bridge, Harriet, Badger Hill, Indeed, Surly Hell, a few ciders). Definitely specialized in "smoked." Chicken wings were awesome smoked (I got BBQ, but would recommend naked next time to maximize the smoke flavor). Entrees are sandwiches served in baskets, but that’s my style. Flights served on laminated ID sheets.

Seemed like a pretty cool place. Got a flight of 4 for $6 so a nice deal. Had multiple guest taps, which was cool. Heard the food is good, but didn’t try it this time. Beers were solid and service was okay for the place being relatively crowded.

Visited on 12-1-12. Consumed one beer (Northbound Smokehouse SNOWPOCALYPSE), a sandwich, and fries. 10 beers on tap: 4 brewed in house, 6 guest taps (all from Minnesota). I’d like to see more house-brewed beers on tap. Gray walls with black and white posters, light wood floors, medium brown wood tables and bar top, black wood chairs. Two flat-screen TVs showing college football (without sound) on the Saturday I was there. L-shaped bar. Full bar (i.e., serves hard liquor). Liquor selection limited but Scotch whiskies nicely overrepresented. Two sets of taps, apparently copies of each other. Tanks visible through glass behind the bar. Small, L-shaped dining room. Chalk boards, one of which was blank. Many large windows that let in light (I was there at lunch time) and show the appealing, busy, blue-collar neighborhood that is in the process of gentrification. Landscaping work in progress on the patio (the landscapers were eating lunch in the brewpub when I was there). Nice atmosphere, perhaps a bit on the dark and boring side with all the dark, neutral colors. Fits very much in the American brewpub tradition in terms of décor and food selection (classic American bar food). Specializes in smoking items throughout menu, a nice little twist that adds some extra flavor. My food was average to above average gastropub fare, adequately enjoyable but not outstanding. The beer I had was very good but served excessively cold, under 40 degrees. Service was slow (although not extremely so) despite the presence of only 10 or so other filled tables. Resonable prices. This is a good little neighborhood bar, but it won’t stand out to those who have experienced many contemporary brewpubs. I generally score these places more harshly than most other reviewers do. I want to be clear that I like this place and I expect to return multiple times. 4/4/6/6/7/13=>54. Improved on subsequent visits. 4/5/8/7/7/14=>62

Fairly limited seating and was completely packed on a Tuesday night - 45 minute wait for a table. Nice ambiance with large windows behind the bar overlooking the brewery. Mix of their own beers (4) and locals on tap. Their specialty is smoked food, which was pretty good, not great. Ditto on their beers.

I don’t really need to go back. The porter was their best, and the food was fairly lackluster. The fried chicken sandwich was more like a sand-wish this had flavor.... The service was fantastic, though and I thought they had some cool beer selections. The place was massively crowded (something they can’t control) so that was a little bit of a bummer but I might try it again if it was the early happy hour or if I was in the mood for something a bit more expensive on the menu. The roast beef sandwich was a bit more flavorful, but dry where the cheese oozed off. I couldn’t get smoky flavor from any of the smoked fish; only the porter had a smoky aftertaste. The TVs were distracting for such a small place, which was fairly simple and not too memorable.

Visited on a cool weeknight and sat outside on the patio. Picnic tables outside. Service was very friendly and helpful. Indoors is an open floor plan with lots of tables. They have a small, simple menu with appetizers and sandwiches. Small beer selection so far, but they just opened. They could do a little better with their selection of their guest taps.

Stopped in on Oct. 2, 2012. Had a flight of 4 house beers, which were quite good. Didn’t eat. Nice vibe, cool neighborhood, and they have other local guest taps as well. Terrific service. Update - had the pork sandwich - maybe the best pork sandwich I’ve ever had. This place rocks.

Stopped in over the weekend to check this newly opened place out. Busy on the outside and inside, pretty good sign. Nice place with both a bar and tables. A couple tv’s showing the Gophers game. Didn’t grab any food but the menu looked decent. Grabbed a sampler but couldn’t get the IPA as it was out, bummer. Beer was good as well, tried the Light Rail Pale, Colombus Pale, Honey Wheat, Amber, and Porter. Wanted a growler but they aren’t offering them yet. Seems to me that this will be successful but they are still working out some kinks (something ever our server admitted).

Visited on opening night. Small with a decent size patio. Beers were decent and although I didn’t have any food it was served late, a plus. Clean with lots of windows. I can imagine this being a nice neighborhood joint, especially since it is literally down the street from me. It’ll be nice to get off work and have a late night pint. Good amount of other local brews too.
