| sic1314 (33), Leiden, Netherlands | | May 17, 2012 Interesting enough place, very wide ranging bottled selection (but why only draft Heineken?). Visited on a Sunday afternoon when it was very quiet, so can’t comment on busy periods. | | BlackHaddock (175), , England | | April 2, 2012 The ’happening street’ in Berlin currently, the whole area is a mass of bars, clubs and eating places. We missed this bar initially, because of scaffolding that was covering the front, plus the street is numbered strangely. We were on the wrong side of the road, no problems once we realised.
Don’t know what it’ll look like outside, but inside it is very basic, with wooden floors and loads of seating/tables. Some interesting paintings, lite very well, to highlight each ones striking points (like a spot light onto a nightscenes moon). We all liked the vibe of the place (two 50+ year olds and two 29 year olds). Lots of American English being spoken around us, as well as German.
The bottled beer selection is very interesting, the only tap being Heineken of all things. I didn’t really look past the German beers, but there were plenty of others and as has been mentioned most appeared to be Belgian.
Service was fine on both occasions my little party of four drank here in mid April 2011. Bottles brought to the table, pour your own. Update from Jan 2012, still busy and fun to use, found some interesting beers to drink (check out the bar top for ones not on the beer menu!). | | edpeg (30), Berlin, Germany | | February 20, 2012 Decent beer pub with good selection on bottles. Food is quite general but their goulash works every time for little money. As already mentioned below quite touristy, but drop in few hours before 19 o’clock and you’ll have all the space for your beer tasting. The prices are not expensive, but very affordable for locals like me. Service can be pain in the ass in the evenings, when it gets busy. | rawalli (8), , Germany does not count - explanation | | January 17, 2012 A lot of beers from all around the world, but mostly bottled stuff - nothing special. A place for average beer drinking tourists - not for the beer-geeks. Good place if you are real thirsty, a little bit tired and interested in tourist-watching. | | Leighton (226), London, England | | January 1, 2012 A very nice bar that focuses almost exclusively on bottled beers. The bottle list is pretty large. Lots of common stuff but a few special ones to look out for (e.g. the Andechser Dopplebock Dunkel). Good value. Pretty mellow place when we visited on a Sunday afternoon, but I’d imagine the place gets jammed with youngsters. Lots of tables, original art on the walls. We have a nice server. We didn’t eat anything but the food looked decent. Laid-back music, like jazzy lounge stuff. Smooth. Definitely worth visiting. Quite coincidentally the hotel I was staying at (the Meininger Mitte) was directly next door, so that was pretty convenient. | | sebletitje (200), Enghien, Belgium | | August 10, 2011 A German version of Delirium ... crowded and touristy with plenty of German beers, many Belgians and other world beers along with spirits, etc. At least they have a decent selection of various German styles while not breaking grounds on rare beers. Draft selection is limited to one crappy pilsner.
Atmosphere .. touristy bar, not really a reflection of a Berliner bar.
As with many things in Germany simple things get overly complicated as placing a simple order at the bar was.
Easy to find or reach with U-Bahn and bus. | Nolegs (3), Bodø, Norway does not count - explanation | | August 1, 2011 Nice place, the best selection of import beers I could find in Berlin. | | craftycarl21 (59), Washington, Washington DC | | July 12, 2011 Great location on Oranienburgerstrasse. Walk to one end and walk down Friedrichstrasse and see all the shops, walk to the other and go to Weihenstephaner in Hackeshen Markt. Very good bottle selection, though only a few that aren’t regularly accessible. Still, getting to try the Andechser Doppelbock was a treat, and I got to sit outside and people-watch. One of the best bars I could find in Berlin. | | rauchbierlover (39), , Italy | | June 2, 2011 The best pub in Berlin. Cheap prices, large and nice selection of beers from all over the world. Tasty Food and good service. | | Frontoviki (13), , Norway | | March 24, 2011 Great Place, very trendy, just like me : ) |
