Strange little place, hardly seemed open. Limited beer range was OK, but not really worth going out of your way for.

Strange little place really. The decor is a mix of old photographs, old adverts, old radios and old type writers. Candles on every table (most rickerty) and a brick wall with a fake roof over it to break the room up a bit. They only had two beers on when we visited, a Pils and a Dunkel, both brewed on site. I had both becuase I liked the place, the beers were not great however, cloudy and moody with not a lot of taste. The place had a few others sat around; two pairs of other Brits some Germans and a party of Japanese (I think). The food looked good and the Haxe Special is now Euro 8.88 with a 1/2 Litre of beer (Jan 2009). Pleasant place to spend an hour or two, the beers are not that interesting, but the ornaments and bric-a-brac help to make it worth finding. Been three times now and although it isn’t a must see brewpub it certainly is worth finding if you are in the area.

On the whole, like the beers and the small place, was good to get out of the drizzle, principally, but there’s cheer to be had here, and it’s worth a stop on a crawl of the area (the Alex-HM-Oranienburger sequence takes days to exhaust). I like the architectural levels in the small space and semi-kitschy cramming of breweriana and sundries. Lots of hearty traditional German food on the menu (but they also had stroganoff!), beers are fine for the tick but I can see the potential for great variability (though I had absolutely no problems with DMS or diacetyl, as others have claimed). I do recommend the Flammkuchen, a little oily but actually had some balance and didn’t overdo it on the onions of cheese like at some other pubs.

Small but characterful place. The two regular beers are extremely good - two of the best brewpub beers in Berlin, for me. Server was fine. Prices are average. Didn’t eat the food but it looks hearty. Convenient location, so this place is definitely worth a stop.

Ok place near Lemke and Mitte. We were there during lunchtime, so there was more people eating than drinking. Two good house beers plus few other macros. Also lots of home made schnapps for 1€. Waitress was fast and good looking.

Parksy, Dave and I literally stumbled upon this cozy little pub and stayed until it closed. We thought the beers were fantastic even if the selection was limited (I think there were 3 beers to chose from).

Went in for a quick hell-dunkel-leave routine.Small and pretty cosy place with lots of drinkers on a Friday afternoon. Good and efficient service (visually pleasing too on that day...) and a pretty decent dunkel at a good price given the location

Another brewpub in Berlin that’s just worth the visit if you are in the neighbourhood. Pretty central location, not far from Alexanderplatz. Drop by if you are passing by, it’s not the worst brewpub in the city, but it is far from the best. You will probably find more interesting at your corner shop or the closest Supermarked.

A small beer system at the bar and two average beers. Inside has this very German atmosphere with the hanging smell of cabbage. Memorabilia on the wall. Again this is the more touristy area of Berlin and the price vs. quality of the beers do not warrant the 2€50 for a 30cl pour. Did not try the food, but it looked to be the huge 900g haxe portion, beer sauce, etc. Service was friendly, I guess the waitress heard my German accent and spoke to me in French, she made my experience there a lot nicer. Not bad but nothing exceptional.

A small, a bit worn-down brewpub near Alexanderplatz. The selection is modest and not of very high quality. Still I consider this place worth visiting, if you are visiting eastern Berlin.
