| stouby (68), Holbæk, Denmark | | April 29, 2012 Had a few beers there. Excellent beers, service fine. Sat outdoor in the sun, it was market day. Excellent view and great fun. | | BlackHaddock (175), , England | | April 2, 2012 Huge terrace area out front, too wet and cold to use on our 1st visit (an evening in April 2011), or our 2nd (Jan 2012).
Wooden floor on entering, the bar is a fair distance in front of you. To the left are tables, the wall to your right has a brightly lite display cabinate with beers, glasses, steins and certificates on show. We hooked up to a tall table with stools next to it.
Modern decor with a rustic touch, dark wood stools, scrubbed lightwood tables, modern chandiller with mood lighting. Cooler Keller bar (in temp amd ambiance) below, we were guided down there on our second visit. Table service of course, attentive and pleasant. We had two beers each and they were in good order and served as you’d expect in the correct glasses. I seem to think they only sell their own beers, not that’s a bad thing.
A classy joint, fairly quiet on our visit, but it is in a happening area and must get very busy at times. Food looked good, but we had none.
| | Leighton (226), London, England | | March 4, 2012 Lovely place. Has a large outdoor seating area that I imagine is quite popular during warm months; but on a chilly, rainy new years day I sat inside. Beautiful interior, lots of table seating, all wood, candles and electric lighting. Friendly servers that speak English. Great place to top into for some of the less common Weihenstephaner beers. | | tomaz (12), , Germany | | February 22, 2012 well, not that the place is bad. just last time we went, with 2 kids that drunk soft drinks, we had each 2 beers (a big, a small) and 2 soups, since it was cold outside, we ended with 40 euro bill, without tips.
Beer is great but choice never change. Food is way too expensive and you notice the tourist area you are in. Value for money better on Prague, 0.80 ct for a beer, 4.80 euro here... ok, it is Germany... Still. | | rauchbierlover (39), , Italy | | January 30, 2012 Used to go there for dinner, not for beers, even though finding a good beer in Berlin is almost impossible and Weihenstephaner are one of the best you can find in the Capital. Service is good, kind waitresses. Food is just wonderful. I’ve tried eisbein, leberkaese, pappardelle and everything I’ve ordered there was just good. Highly recommended! | | EithCubes (158), , Germany | | January 10, 2012 [ Updated January 12, 2012 ] Location is great. A little desolate on a Tuesday night in January, but oh man, can the patio overflow during the summer. Beers are, of course, untouchable, and I’m always tempted to stop here when on this stretch of the S-Bahn, but I can’t remark too much on the food. Classical music, clean and spacious, with great, friendly service and some of the comforts of Bavaria brought to the heart of Prussia (mustard already at my table for the pretzel? Don’t mind if I do). Still just looks a little too new, sort of un-lived in despite the long history of the place. | | JanLaursen (30), Copenhagen, Denmark | | October 21, 2011 Quite touristy, but if the weather’s fine as it was when we had lunch there, it’s a fine outdoor setting. Very good service, a nice selection of Weihenstephaners on tap. Hearty, well made and extremely meat-based menu. Decidely un-seedy place to grab a wellbrewed beer. If in Berlin and in no hurry, go there. | | Christian (159), Odense, Denmark | | October 17, 2011 Straightforward German brewery pub with a classic menu and a lovely cellar seating area. Friendly and attentive service as always in Germany. Pretty good selection of Weihenstephan on tap which makes it a safe haven if you’re tired of yeasty Berlin brewpub beer. | | visionthing (114), Oslo, Norway | | September 14, 2011 No doubt about the quality of the beers served. Nice place at Hackescher Markt, close to Oranienburger Straße. Maybe a bit touristy, but the beer and the food is of high quality. According to their webiste the Restaurant is is located in the oldest building in Berlin’s Mitte district. | | MartinT (469), Montreal, Quebec | | August 12, 2011 The quality of the Weihenstephaner beers is always astounding, and this restaurant doesn’t disappoint in serving nearly all of them from the tap. You can’t even find a place like this in Munich even though the brewery is just outside of the city! The restaurant’s basement is a maze of old vaulted cellars, now rooms for groups. The terrace overlooks Hackescher Markt, which can be pleasantly lively when there are food stands outside. There aren’t that many world-class beers in Berlin, so this restaurant becomes a must imho. Where else would you get that many masterpieces (Weizen, Dunkel Weizen, Helles, etc.) under the same roof? |
