rawalli (8), , Germany does not count - explanation | | May 23, 2012 Like already mentioned: Essentially, this is a wine store - but supplemented with a great beer selection (more than 50 special, rare beers in my counting). It´s the only one I know in Berlin (or should I say: Germany ?) to do this important step to overall drinking pleasure. Do we judge the great European beer stores by their wine selection ? This one is uncompetitive - unique ! | | edpeg (30), Berlin, Germany | | February 20, 2012 Nice cosy little beer and wine shop with some rare beers from UK, US and Benelux. The owner organizes now and then beer tastings. I think it’s little overpriced in comparison to other beer shops. Worth checking out for some more rare stuff in Berlin Brewdog and some others. | | ogivlado (242), Zagreb, Croatia | | November 3, 2011 Visited this beershop only because my hostel was in neighborhood. Mostly wine, very short beer list – about 25-30 beers including some BrewDog i Brewbaker beers. Don’t bother with getting here. | | sebletitje (200), Enghien, Belgium | | August 12, 2011 Nice little store with a wine-beer section.
Inside, not the craziest amount of selection but one that shines by the variety of the beers. The owner knew very well ll the details about his beers and offers some very nice small German offerings such as Häffner Bräu and Braustelle along with other little gems that are off the beaten path. Very helpful friendly service and all in English with plenty of beer recommendations to visit in Berlin.
A nice selection of Belgian beers and many British ones. A good selection of Brewdogs with even the Abstrakt serie. Beer prices are ok while some can be a little overpriced especially when buying small German new beer styles.
Also sells some beer books and local products along with a nice selection of sake.
Good to see a litle store with an owner who actually cares about what he sells. | | dudebun (16), , Germany | | December 1, 2010 [ Updated November 25, 2011 ] Jackpot! I may not agree with davidaa’s review of the bierspezialitäten laden, but I do agree with his review of Wein Kultur. Went tonight, real easy to get to from the S-Bahn station Bellevue, cute little shop on a nice street, and besides the great wine selection and food stuff (smoked paprika, spanish potato chips) they have great beer. What a great place. Beers that I remembered are added. Go here, you will not be disappointed.
edit: this review is biased because I live in Berlin and there is no other beer shop that carries interesting non-German beer. If you are looking for German beer, you can go to one of many places in town. If you want great American, Belgian, Dutch, Scottish, Danish (not-german beer), etc you come here. | | davidaa (14), | | October 10, 2010 Located on a street with the best coffee and the best cinnamon rolls in Berlin is also a "don’t miss" place to taste some great beers and meet Berlin’s beer meister. The selection of beer here is very small but you can be assured that each bottle is hand picked because the proprietor takes every choice very seriously. If you REALLY enjoy beer, you want to learn about Berlin’s underground beer culture and you take beer seriously, then you can’t miss this place.
If the owner has time you might get a chance to have an in-store tasting while you discuss the details of how Europe’s master brewers are concocting their latest recipes. You can get some pointers on where to go next, get some advice on what to buy and save yourself the wasted trip to Beer Specialty Laden or any other Berlin beer shop.
In Berlin there is only one beer store where the owner speaks perfect english, appreciates all the American and Italian micro-brews (not just German and Belgian), and truly enjoys what he does. If you are planning to explore Berlin’s beer scene, do yourself a favor, start here! |
