| KAF (100), Coralville, Iowa | | February 8, 2012 When I am in Moline I usually stop in Rock Island first and visit their Hy-Vee as it seems a little more craft forward and is not too far out of the way. They have a decent selection here with a bunch of beer we cannot get across the river in Iowa. Service is okay, but does not seem too knowledgable when in comes to craft brews. | | wlajwl (18), Quad Cities, Iowa | | December 9, 2011 [ Updated February 10, 2012 ] Pretty good selection, there were a pretty good amount of bomber selections. The mix and match section was a bit lean but overall it was pretty decent. | | GraniteSkunk (10), Moline/Quad Cities, Illinois | | September 15, 2011 My go-to store. I’m there pretty much every day(note that it’s a grocery store as well, with excellent eat in options). The staff is extremely friendly, helpful, and if you catch the right person, knowledgeable. They have one of the better selections in the area, but not the tops for the Illinois side. They will, occasionally, have something special held behind the counter/in the back, as well. They get all the Founders special releases(KBS, Devil Dancer, etc), and have been expanding their selection lately. If you ask for a brewery, they will do everything they can to get it. It took them over a month, but they nailed down a Clown Shoes distributor for me. | | radagast83 (80), Fairfax, Virginia | | August 13, 2011 Picked up a mixed six-pack when visiting Illinois. Some good local beers, and beers I couldn’t find near my hometown. Nice selection to make your own six-pack, single price which may be good for some beers you pick, but not others. Staff was really really helpful. | | Cavie (80), Fort Worth, Texas | | June 8, 2010 My first stop after arriving in IL. This place is located inside a grocery store, but it is separated into it’s own area. The selection of locals here is pretty good. I found lots of things I haven’t had before, as well as lots of singles to build a six. Prices were fair from what I could tell, plus they had a neat little contraption next to the register that rapidly cools your beer. I guess for those that need to pop a top in the parking lot? Haha, nice though. | | drowland (116), Tallahassee, Florida | | August 11, 2009 [ Updated September 14, 2010 ] This is a new Hy Vee Wine & Spirits that opened in accordance with the new Hy Vee on John Deere Road in Moline, IL. The ambiance is bright, bland, and average - typical of Hy Vee’s style. The service is fine... the employees generally know where everything is and whatnot, and the manager is GREAT (Steve), but I’m Used to the Hy Vee W&S that I used to work at where we had 3 certified Wine Specialists, another that basically is but never took the test, and 3 people who are basically beer experts... tough to compare, I guess. Anyway, for a dumb old Moline store, the beer selection is great. Steve obviously did his work to get as many specialty bombers and good beers as possible - and he did a great job. The value is average - the markup is controlled by Hy Vee and not the managers, so it can be a bit high at times, especially if the shipment was small, but overall not bad. I like going here when I’m home in the QC because at the moment they have one of the best selections of beer in the Quad Cities... until the store I used to work at in Milan, IL finally gets to sell bombers because of the law I got changed! |
