wanderlustny (1), does not count - explanation | | November 10, 2009 Not quite what you’d expect from an Irish Pub but I guess this is what you get in Montclair. The beer is not brewed on site. It’s actually from Cricket Hill of Farfield, NJ. An enjoyable but unspectacular line up of brews. Worth a trip if you are in the area. | | lowgun1212 (13), Carlstadt, New Jersey | | October 25, 2008 Good place for dinner and a Corsendonk. The clientele are really snooty, cheesy, and annoying. The house brewed beers are at best average. | | austinpowers (152), New York, New York | | July 31, 2008 This place brews its own beers and usually has 3 or 4 on tap. In addition, they carry about 10 guest taps. The home-brewed stuff is the reason to visit. Lagers and ales run a tad toward the bitter side, much like Heartland in NYC. A nice, if sterile, ambiance. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. | | yobdoog (94), Woodridge NY, New York | | February 5, 2008 Place is pretty nice and you get a good mug pour of all the house beers. The food is excellent. Last time I was there I had the corned beef and cabbage that was to die for. mmm. Not sure the final word on who brews the beer but it is usually good and pairs well with the food. Slightly upscale pub type place that I enjoyed. | aintno (3), does not count - explanation | | February 10, 2006 Nice ambience. Bar staff could have been more attentive, but was friendly. Tap selection could be expanded a bit, but the standards are there; House brew is average. A seat at the bar during a slow hour can be a good time. | | beaconstreet (31), Washington DC | | July 12, 2005 A nice bar, somewhat expensive for New Jersey, but this is gentrified Montclair you’re kidaddling in. Young professional crowd, very crowded these days, but it did just open. Lots of standard quality beers on tap, as well as four of their own... about two of which are creative. Worth a look for an expensive night out. Go to Trumpets around the corner for good jazz afterwards. | | Hawksfan17 (63), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | | July 10, 2005 It is a pretty nice place, new so I hear. They ID everyone at the door because it is 21 to enter, but when you get back to the bar they ID anyone who looks under 30 again I think. It is a real pain, but I think it is just this one bartender. They take forever to get to you and even when they are there, they are incapable of taking a second order, they can only do one at a time. I was there for 90 minutes and only got 2 beers. It was crowded but not overly crowded for a Friday night. They have a decent amount of beers on tap and I know they have bottles just not how many. They had 5 of their own beers on tap, I had two and they were not bad. The brewery is located right there on the premises so I was told. It was not a bad place to go, but they could do with some better bartenders. |
