Why would anyone come to Montgomery to buy beer? This small store gives you a small beam of hope if you need a fix for a couple months... Slightly expensive but nice selection. And the staff is AMAZING - took time to help me pick out local brews - and the accents can’t be beat...

Made a quick pitstop while driving thru Montgomery. The shop is a bit interesting with a really nice wine section, a deli and an eating area. While the beer selection is not huge it is well thought out and if I were local I would be quite happy. Picked up some nice locals and the prices were quite comparable to the best I pay.

Wow, out of nowhere this place bring light to a dreary state of beer. They sell beer from Michigan, Kansas, to include many more not so common places. Also cares Birmingham AL canned beer. Along with steeply priced imports. Worth the stop for sure.

This is a rather interesting frankenstein type of place with a wine and beer shop, meat store, and deli. I haven’t tried their food, but they have absolutely the best selection of beer and wine I have ever seen in Alabama. I buy my beer here almost exclusively.

February 2011. In an interesting revival neighborhood near downtown Montgomery, F&V is an interesting mashed up place of a deli, wine shop and grocery. They have a solid lineup of import, regional and oddly far away microbrewery beers here too -- far and away the best retail selection I’ve found on my few visits to Alabama. Disappointed there were no singles, but I suspect that’s a product of state regulations more than their desire to offer a great selection of beer.

Derk’s is a combination lunch buffet restaurant, deli/market, wine shop and beer store. The management has taken advantage of the newly raised ABV limit in Alabama, and has a substantial selection of craft and imported beer. These guys are really friendly folks, and they’ll strive to get whatever you’re looking for if they don’t already have it. The lunch buffet is popular with Montgomery’s upper-crust employees in the Old Cloverdale and Downtown/capitol districts.
