| Lubiere (349), Ottawa, Ontario | | March 27, 2012 A nice Co-Op in the capital of Vermont, with a surprising selection of beers from the US (including Lawsons...NB: no more than 2 bottles, max!...store policy), and imports (mikkeler, Dugges, etc...). Prices were below that of Winooski Beverages. Plenty of parking. Compares well with other stores in Vermont. | | adamjackson (22), Canaan, New Hampshire | | January 31, 2012 I’m really impressed with this place. It was recommended to me by fellow BA friends as a place to go on my way back home from a brewery in Stowe.
The beer selection was GREAT for such a small store. There were some gems here that I can’t get in New Hampshire. I ended up buying 8 bottles in total and then asked the beer guy for some recommendations and he directed me to a few beers that were very well reviewed on BA so he clearly knew his stuff.
Good service, great selection. This is now a required stop when I’m heading to Burlington for sure.
| | VTHopHead (57), Barre, Vermont | | June 1, 2008 [ Updated September 21, 2008 ] 09/2008 Update - They have embraced the change in beer laws here in Vermont and now carry a small variety of higher alcohol selections from all over.
Original rating - The beer selection here is fairly small, but also fairly diverse... no macros and a good mix of micros from all over... both domestic and imported. There are better places to get beer in Vermont, but they are close by and will work in a pinch. Lots of great natural/organic food here as well. | | puboflyons (53), Allenstown, New Hampshire | | March 11, 2008 This place is a natural foods place and beer is not the primary part of its inventory. There’s a small beer section which includes mostly Vermont micros/craft, a few imports and some of the organic stuff. They do not sell any national macros (B-M-C). Throw in the occasional rare find. It is not a place to go out of your way to visit but if you are in Vermont’s capital city....
I will agree with the original poster that for harder to find stuff, this is where to go in Montpelier. But the Shaw’s grocery store and the M&M Beverge Center about a half mile down the road into the downtown area have larger selections. | | muzzlehatch (255), Burlington, Vermont | | March 9, 2006 [ Updated March 16, 2006 ] Hunger Mountain’s beer selection has steadily improved over the last couple of years and I feel now warrants a listing. It isn’t any larger or better than any place in Burlington, necessarily, but it’s well displayed, they keep most of the ciders available in the state, and they seem to get newly available stuff before a lot of other area stores. Easily the best selection in the capital region; they just recently added McNeills and soon should have Jolly Pumpkin. Also a near-tie for best cheese selection in the state (with Burlington’s Fresh Market). |
