80 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 Kinz (55) Glen Allen, Virginia | April 19, 2013 After multiple trips to Montreal without really randomly running across anywhere even remotely decent to buy a few local craft bottles to bring back to the states, I made a last second decision to hit RateBeer for a suggestion on where to go. Thus, the 25 minute drive from West of the city in to this beer store. Big, big selection, and the stunning thing is that it was 95%+ Quebecois micros. Since this is what I was looking for, it was absolutely awesome, a staggering collection of brews that I could happily spend months sampling my way through. I intend to hit this place every possible time I can when I come back up here. Having said that, if I were a local with potentially better access to local micros, I would probably be a bit frustrated by the hardcore allegiance to solely local product. It is the usual thing you see sometimes in Montreal - a zealotry to all things local that starts to get way past local sourcing and basic pride, and begins to go a somewhat more disturbing direction. Having said that, service was friendly to this decidedly non-French speaking visitor who can only muster an "Anglais?" and a "Merci" with a smile when pressed. Rambling about regional patriotism aside, I am thrilled with this place, and can’t wait to go back. | 82 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 18/20 VT (33) Quebec City, Quebec | March 10, 2013 Only been there once. Lady at the counter was not very helpful, although she was nice. Selection was incredible. Prices were fair, but I have seen better outside of Montreal (didn’t go shopping elsewhere on the island...). All in all, I’m most likely going back on my next trip there.
| 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 mcberko (134) Vancouver, British Columbia | September 14, 2012| Updated November 5, 2012 This is the place to bottle shop in Montreal, with easily the best selection of bottles. As with everywhere in Quebec, essentially nothing available outside of Quebec microbrews, and there are a LOT of them, so do your homework before making the trip. Lots of great ones and lots of garbage too. Only downside is it’s quite out of the way, though accessible via public transit. | 78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 jercraigs (234) Toronto, Ontario | August 30, 2012| Updated November 5, 2012 A large selection of Quebec microbrews that was getting larger when I was there. (they were in the middle of an expansion that is likely complete by now. A lot of them are lesser know brewers which is good from a rarity perspective, not always from a quality perspective so do some Ratebeer research in advance! Prices are quite reasonable. Bit out of they way but definitely the broadest selection I have seen for Montreal bottle shopping recently. | 78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 auerbrau (278) Peace Dale, Rhode Island | August 25, 2012| Updated November 5, 2012 Obviously, the place to go for bottled craft beer in Montreal. I really enjoyed that beers were organized by style (warm) and brewery (cold). I’m really blown away that imports are almost not available and that 95% of the craft beer in this store was from Quebec. Please to grab some Hopfenstark Saison, but sad to see the La Trou du Diable was $20 (!). Best selection I saw while wandering around the city. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 PaulUnwin (96) Pinellas Park, Florida | August 20, 2012| Updated November 5, 2012 Caught a taxi out there and had a look around, didn’t have too much time, but they had a great choice of Canadian beers. Def worth checking out. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 left_bank (25) , Japan | July 30, 2012| Updated November 5, 2012 if you are a tourist in montreal, this is the store to go to.
they do not have all quebec brewed craft biere here all the time and they do not offer the cheapest prices in the city...but they have the best selection, they sell glassware and t-shirts,they have a person whose sole rsponsibility there is to order and sell the craft beers, and since i have last been there they have changed there floor plan to aisles so now there is room to move. |
