| jorondo (10), , | | January 19, 2012 Great choice in montreal, the place allowed for beer is rather small but there is a lot of choice and prices are good. | | TheJester (33), Peterborough, Ontario | | July 18, 2011 In the middle of a beautiful market. Dude sees me standing there with a list in my hand looking confused, and proceeds to find me 10 of the beers for which I am looking. His own recommendations, of which there were two, were not as good, however. Good prices, very friendly and helpful, and the selection, while far from the best in the city, is decent. | | Sammy (408), Toronto, Ontario | | June 14, 2011 Another good beer/grocery in Montreal. On the way to the highway though a bit aways from core downtown Montreal. Nice atmsphere in this market, paid parking. No service, beers are organized by brewer with newer and more desireable offerings in the middle. Much choice, not everything here which is a plus and a minus. A worker carried the boxes to our car so that service contribution is noteable. | | JoeMcPhee (398), Toronto, ON, Ontario | | May 26, 2011 Popped in here recently after a visit to a local pub. The smell of awesome cheese as you walk in the door is definitely something. Pretty cramped interior as you walk in, but the market opens up a bit on the upper levels. The beer section is small and fairly tight for space as well, but there is a decent selection of Quebec micros. There was a whole wall of Michel Jodoin cider when I was there - which is certainly nothing to sneeze at either. Definitely worth popping in in you’re in the area. | | godofsky (15), Montréal, Quebec | | January 4, 2010 while not a beer store exclusively, this place offers a decent selection of quebec micro brews. as far as cheese goes, this is THE place!! back to beer...they have the dieu du ciel line, and some bièropholie, a few other line’s as well. | | j12601 (214), Poughkeepsie, New York | | April 9, 2009 While not a beer shop per se, and more of a grocery and cheese shop, they’ve got a nice selection of Quebec brews, though not the two (Ch, Biero) that I was looking for, but a fair representation of a number of others, most of them unknown to me. Prices seemed reasonable, and the location is great. Go for a light afternoon snack in the market, and grab a bottle or two for later. | | elihapa (65), Honolulu, Hawaii | | October 9, 2008 This is a place that has benefitted immensely from location. Tucked in a wonderful farmer’s market in a central area of Montreal proper, it gets a lot of foot traffic. And for good reason. Their cheese selection is immense, and from what I could tell, the staff is quite knowledgeable. A pity things didn’t go as well for me in the beer area. Given that their interior walls are lined with bottles of craft beer, I found their selection to be just average. They have a heavy bias towards Quebec microbrews, along with a couple of French ones (coincidence??). Although admirable, all I can remember about their selection is that it did not carry any of the key Quebec breweries I was looking for. If you find yourself here, focus on the fresh vegetables and fruit and you will be a happier camper than I was. | | notalush (256), Denver, Colorado | | August 24, 2008 A quaint shop located in one of the most impressive farmers markets I’ve seen - there’s a lot around to please the foodie - the store itself has a small section of beer - they had mostly Quebec brews (most of which I’d never heard of) and a couple of French and Belgian imports - they didn’t have much of what I was looking for (no charlevoux, only one bieropholie, etc.), but the selection seemed okay, I guess - the staff seemed surprised (and even a little annoyed) that someone from out of town was shopping there - a decent place, but I won’t come back the next time I’m in town. |
