| | philippem (11), Montréal, Quebec | | August 11, 2011 One of my favorite place in Montreal to go buy local beer. The shop is small but they have a pretty diverse choice among their offerings; they get most of the rarities that are released in Quebec and stopped offering most of the dubious brewers’ products (no more Breughel for exemple... but plenty of Multi-Brasses though...). Customer service is pretty good and personalised when you’re being served the two owners, Annie and Sylfranc, which happens less and less since they began their involvement in Brouhaha, a brewpub located not so far from St-Hubert. They also sell glasses, artisanal cheeses and other beer related-stuff. | drinkingcoffee (5), Quebec does not count - explanation | | December 12, 2010 I am a bit biased, since I live down the street, but this is one of my favourite beer stores - a very neighbourhood-type place. The owners Annie and Sylfranc are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and they have a good selection of all the best Quebec beers. It’s very easy to walk out with a good selection of a bit of everything, as they offer discounts on 6, 12 and 24 bottles (mixed selection is fine), with an extra discount on 6+ bottles during the week when the Canadiens are playing ;-)
Also, there are usually free beer and cheese samples on Saturday afternoons . | | Goldorak (112), Montreal, Quebec | | August 28, 2010 This is definately a "boutique" Beer store in a very strange location on tacky St-Hubert, where you can get a cheap second-hand wedding dress, latex boots with matching whip and knockoff fashions. But it’s only a block away from Baubien metro, not much of a detour if you’re going to Vices & Versa.
It’s a small store, so selection is limited, but you only find the cream of the crop here, and is likely to have the limited release Beers hidden in the backstore, so don’t hesitate to ask. They seem to have a strict no hoarding policy on these, good for them. Service was friendly and the guy knew his stuff. Cheeses and other interesting pairings were available. This may become my favorite local store. | | acomtl (12), Montréal, Quebec | | June 20, 2010 Un endroit très bien pour débuter votre quête de bières atisanales. | duffbeerfan (8), does not count - explanation | | March 10, 2010 If you are close to Beaubien street, try this small but decent store. They have many kinds of beer, the problem is you can’t take many of them, that constitutes a big problem if you’re a beer lover. But still buy one or two to taste the rustic ambiance. | monsieurska (5), Quebec does not count - explanation | | September 21, 2009 Un endroit, comme le nom l’indique qui fait très terroir et prenez le temps de vous arrêter, vous rencontrerez peut-être un des sympathique propriétaire! | | elihapa (65), Honolulu, Hawaii | | November 28, 2008 I stumbled upon this while walking home from Dep Simon Anthony. What a surprise that I find another quality beer store by chance in a city that has a sharp lack of such conveniences.
Delires du Terroir has a pretty window display, and is attractively located along a "strip mall", Plateau-style (Plaza St-Hubert). They have a smaller selection than some of the other notable beer stores in Montreal (Rahman, Simon Anthony, Metro Joan), but someone clearly knows their beer, because I found nearly everything I was looking for.
Yes, this includes 5 different kinds of Bieropholie, the whole range of DDC, three different Charlevoix, Corne de Brume, and more. From my limited experience buying beer in Montreal, I’d say this place is best suited for the inexperienced Quebec drinker looking to pick up the best stuff in the area. | | MartinT (469), Montreal, Quebec | | May 16, 2007 [ Updated October 16, 2008 ] This tiny store has lots of Québécois seasonals, so if you’re in the northern St-Hubert area, it’s definitely worth a stop. They have a few cheeses also, and local jarred goods, but this is mostly a walk-in craft beer closet. |
