I think every beer I had was from Hermitage and not Tied House but I enjoyed them. The ribs were pretty good and my bartender was very friendly.

This place is on my "never again" list for several reasons. First, the pretentiousness. This used to be a standard after-work happy hour spot, but we got tired of being treated like second class citizens because we were there to drink, not eat. Next, the beer. I cannot think of a more mediocre brewery in existence than Tied House. I have never tasted a beer of theirs that would rank above "so-so" in my book. Give it a pass unless you like mediocre beer served with a ’tude.

Big warehouse with a long bar facing the tanks and plenty of seating. Old wooden tables, chairs and benches. They also have a patio. Service was slow and English is not required to be a waiter! I only had 1 of their beers, the oatmeal stout (decent). I asked if they had any IPA and he brought me a guest beer that I already had and didn�t care for, but it was better on tap. When I asked what the seasonal beer was, I was told it was the guest IPA. I left quickly after that. The food was good (steak). Very noisy building. Won�t be returning.

I finally learned what makes their Amber Light so friggin’ good. It’s the ultimate session beer at 3.5%. Tied House finaly put up a chalkboard to showcase their beers. This wasn’t the case in the past. I used to go there and drink Amber Lights and get a buzz but never drunk and now I know, they make the BEST Session Beer on the Peninsula. For the uneducated, a Session Beer is generally a beer with less than 4% alcohol that you can literally drink all day, or a session, maintaining a minor buzz but without getting drunk, or messed up. TIED HOUSE IS THE ONLY BREWERY IN THE BAY AREA WHO BREWS A SESSION BEER AND THEN DOES $6 GROWLER REFILLS. Before I get flamed, I know 21st Amendment and Steelhead (they are a chain you know) who does this. LONG LIVE TIED HOUSE. As long as I live in SF, I will still make the trip down to Mountain View for my 1/2 order of nachos (no chicken, thanks) growler refill and 2 or 3 tall amber lights. Thank you Tied House.

Not a bad place for a burger and a pint if you happen to visit downtown Mountain View. The Elk Burger was quite good along with the Cajun chips. As for the beer, I found the Alpine Gold to be the best of the brews I sampled. It was refreshing with a nice honey crispness to it. All of the beers on tap when I visited were in the 4-5% ABV range so don’t go expecting strong or hoppy beers. Their specialty seems to be the light and low ABV stuff.

Huge restaurant with a school cafeteria feel to it. Cold with basic and bland decor. The beer is honestly just not good at all. It surprised me that a brewpub can stay in business this long making such poor product. half the beers in my flight had unacceptable levels of diacetyl, and all were under-attenuated and unbalanced. Combine this with an ambiance that is not at all comfortable, and I can’t see bothering to come again, though it’s not far from where I live.

Nothing special. After tasting their 7 offerings, nothing stood out as one I would want a pint of, yet nothing stood out as one that was offensive enough not to drink at all. Not even a real decent pale ale. Probably decent food, but did not have any. Not really worth it to go out of your way for the beer though.

Been here quite a few times, just once since I discovered good beer though. This is a nice place, large and spacious, right next to the happening (for Mountain View that is) Castro St. area. Lots of seating and a solid crowd, and the fermenters are on display for all to see. Food is pretty good and reasonably priced. As for the beer, well, I’d give it a solid "meh." They occasionally come out with something pretty good, and they occasionally come out with something pretty bad. Otherwise, they serve the typical uninspired range of beers. Amber ale, pale ale, IPA, hefeweizen, porter, stout, one or two lagers. Haven’t really seen anything out of the ordinary come from this place. Have had one of their bottled beers, the Menage a Singe, and it was not good. Anyway though, it’s a place to get freshly brewed beers, and it’s got good service and a nice atmosphere. Not a bad place to satisfy the masses and to grab a burger and a couple beers, but you’re not going to find the next Westy 12 or Black Tuesday here, that’s for sure.

I live close so it is unfortunate that this place is fairly mediocre. Beers are uninspiring and always the same except one seasonal. Food is in the same vein, nothing to write home about. Atmosphere is typically Silicon valley techie hangout, nothing special.
