Immense biergarten in the sprawling Englischer Garten, which itself is a nice place to hide from the summer heat. This biergarten serves beers from Hofbräu München and may have an out-of-season special brew available while the Hofbräuhaus in the altstadt has moved on to the next seasonal. LOTS of people gather here to have a snack, a brew and a conversation. Quite an impressive sight.

A decent biergarten, but was there during the off-season so wasn’t terribly exciting. Usual Hofbrau beers, and good Bavarian food. Decent place, would love to go back during warmer weather.

If you’re walking around at English Gardens, and want a nice, cosy, quiet place to have a drink or lunch, you should come here. If you’re a beer lover, you will find nothing here. The staff is polite, but they didn’t give us the menu, and when we said we wanted to drink beer, he brought us Hofbräu Original, not even asking which is the beer we wanted (!?).

Nice place, nice scenery, nice music, nice beer (slightly above average, but the HB here is a gem compared to Spaten and Löwenbräu!!). Nice for a detour......

This place is my favorite place to be on a summer night in Munich. The beer is just average (or slightly below average when compared to other Munich breweries) but the food is delicious, the music is awesome, and the scenery can’t be beat.

It’s one of the more tourist-driven of the Munich beergardens, but the Hofbrau is very tasty (although the service can be snide and rude - I get the impression staff hate the tourists) and the background Tower provides what in the era of Film was called a "Kodak Moment". I’ve been here many times, and have always enjoyed it. Having said that, the locals will tell you it’s not the BEST beergarden in the Englischer Garten and they are correct. On a sunny afternoon, however, while on a stroll through this beautiful huge park, it’s a beautiful piece of the world. People in this city really know how to live, I think. On weekends and some evenings, a brass band will entertain you from their stage inside the Turm (tower). I suspect it’s a better gig than the ear-splitting Hofbrauhaus!

found this wandering through a park. Looks like a great place when packed. German band was playing in the tower. Food lokked like good German fare. Had a hefe that was good. Would like to come back here

We came here on a July 2006 day when it was 37 degrees C and the garden was packed. we found a seat and drank some Hofbrau Summer Zwickl and listened to the oompah band. It was pleasant and exciting, but I liked the other Beergarden in the park better.

Huge biergarten full of all kinds of people in all stages of inebriation, plus an oompah band in the pagoda itself. Everything (beer, food, ...) is self-service, but pretty efficient. Overall quite nice.

This is a great place with a real biergarten atmosphere. I’ve been here a few times, but I can tell you that on a nice summer evening, literally thousands of people are here. Plenty of seating. The food is all right, from what I’ve heard, but I have never had any food here. Nice setting. Right in the middle of the English Garden at the Chinese Tower. Any of the beers here can be found throughout Munich, but the real draw here is the atmosphere.
