| bigtaster (24), Grand Rapids, | | November 22, 2009 Nice relaxed atmosphere, eccentric decor that provides a pub like feel with a hint of randomness. Saturday afternoon the place was fairly busy, so the service was a bit slow. Impressed with the guest beer list. Prices were what I expected, but most importantly the beer was great! | cexshun (5), Portage, Indiana does not count - explanation | | November 5, 2009 I love the atmosphere. Very pub-like. Too many places try to get all fancy. The service is prompt, but the wait staff don’t seem very knowledge about beers. They know the ins and outs of the FFF beers, but outside of the bartenders, you’re on your own for the guest brews. This place has an amazing selections. Numerous FFF beers and tons of guest beers. And high end craft beers, not just no name micros. The food is delcious and the portions are huge. Unfortunately, the food is extremely expensive. And I mean extremely! It’s worth the price, but I don’t go to a brew pub for a $15 porterhouse pork chop. Growlers are priced well though. 6ers are $1 more then liquor stores. Great place, wish it were closer. Eat first though! | | Packard (20), Kirkland, Washington | | October 17, 2009 Had to work in Chicago for a few days, so booked a hotel on the south side just to be close to Three Floyds. Consider it a pilgrimage. Thought my GPS was mistaken, but it’s in an industrial park with absolutely no other retail facilities in sight. Anyone in the parking lot is here for only one reason. Reminds me a bit of Frederick Brewing/ Flying Dog facility in Maryland. Can’t beat the beer quality (doh!). Probably 8 or 10 house beers, plus 10-15 really good guest beers. Drank the unfiltered Alpha King, Robert the Bruce, Broo Doo, and collaborative Oat Goop. They had just run out of the Dreadnaught (bummer). Guests included Maudite, Founders Old Curmudgeon and Cerise. Better than average pub food mostly viewable on their web site (large pork chop and homemade lamb sausage with sauerkraut and red cabbage; fish and chips) with generous portions. But the specials menu has some more adventurous offerings - sauteed skate wing served over fennel ($12!); English blood pudding; etc.). But the best experience came when a local guy, who had never heard of Three Floyds, sat down at the bar between a couple of us and ordered a Coors Light. Within an hour, he was loving Maudite and Robert the Bruce, thanks to the counseling of bartender Jason and two of us hopheads on either side of him. Saw him the next evening at 3F getting takeout for his daughter, and he was bringing his wife for dinner the following night. Another convert; ’nuff said. | | msante79 (73), Orland Hills, Illinois | | October 16, 2009 Went there with my wife for my 30th birthday. Have not been there since DLD 2008. Inside was much smaller and cozier than I remember. Was full but not packed or loud on a Thursday night. I shared the fries with garlic horseradish mayo and the veggie pizza with my wife. Food was awesome. Had Artic Panzer Wolf and Oatgoop from 3F and Goose Island Night Stalker and Ommegang Rogue Grand Cru from guest taps. My wife had Drunk Monk and Gumball Head. All the beer was great as usual. What surprised me was how great the guest taps were and how many guest bottles they offered also. Laid back atmosphere with tons of tap handles and other artwork on walls. Really cool and will start to hit this place up more often. | | WITTBEER (21), Illinois | | October 6, 2009 [ Updated November 11, 2009 ] This place has great beer, but the vibe inside the brewpub is kind of strange. | | jerc (141), Toronto, Ontario | | October 4, 2009 Location is pretty industrial, I can’t imagine why you’d come here OTHER than to go to 3F. The bar itself is saved from a cold feeling by having a ton of cool 3F memorabilia and other beer stuff on the walls. Service is tattoo guy. He was quite friendly and helpful, making some suggestions when the taps we wanted were out. (At least three taps we wanted to order were not available on a Saturday afternoon which was the only major disappointment. One being the BA tap, which was extra unfortunate. Oh well, can I have a Dreadnaught then?) Guest taps were as interesting as some of the 3F house offerings. Food was good. Three out of four of us ordered the burgers I think. The meat patty was almost to the point of being too big/thick, but was delicious with some goat cheese and bacon. Fries were decent. Food prices were pretty reasonable. Beer to go was great, though again some of the stuff listed was sold out. Its the kind of place that would just be okay if it wasn’t Three Floyds. But it *IS* Three Floyds, so F**KIN EH! ;)
| Pivosh84 (3), Warsaw, Poland does not count - explanation | | September 26, 2009 I miss Three Floyds.. | EseLocoSS (1), Indiana does not count - explanation | | July 13, 2009 This is the place to be. If you love beer and enjoy artsy places then this is your place. This place reminds me of a hippie den and I love it. The art they have on the walls is awesome. Not only do they have great beers but they also have awesome food as well. | | foundmd (14), Cincinnati, Ohio | | June 8, 2009 Visited for lunch on 06/06/09. The first stop of three during a trip to some of the Midwest’s most essential breweries. I consider Three Floyds to be one of the Holy Grails of American craft brewing and as such I have wanted to visit their Brew Pub for several years now. Located in an unassuming industrial park outside of Chicago, FFF turned out to be much smaller than I imagined (this probably explains why they distribute to only 2 states). Inside the Brewpub there are about a dozen tables, some couches, and a medium-sized bar area. The walls were littered with various Three Floyds paraphernalia, guest tap handles, and a few large windows allowing one to get a peak inside the brewery. There are typically about ten Three Floyds brews on tap, as well as many guest drafts and bottles. I knew I wanted to try something that was exclusive to the Brewpub so I drank a Hyena! My wife ordered a Gumballhead. The food was much better than expected. My vegetable pizza was crispy and slightly charred and my wife’s vegetable sandwich was bursting with flavor. Try the Robert The Bruce ketchup with your fries. After drinking a half pint of Dreadnaught, I ordered a several cases of beer to take home including a few PopSkulls and Blackheart IPAs. Overall, Three Floyds was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it to all the Midwest’s beer lovers. | | TearsforBeers (11), Ohio | | June 8, 2009 This place rocks. Awesome tap selection (duh), ridiculous interior design, eclectic patronage, good food, and reasonable prices. |
