| Rustyham (84), Nashville, Tennessee | | May 3, 2010 [ Updated February 29, 2012 ] I’m excited that this place is a block away from my job. I stopped in to trader joe’s hoping to find something worth taking home and did not. As i was leaving, I happened to drive by this place and decided to step in. The selection kicks the ass of Midtown’s high ABV beers but for the most part stays away from Belgians. I was really surprised to see brew dog and harvestioun. They seem t favor a a lot of the really expensive beers, probably because they think it means it’s a quality product, which when considering the Italian beers is rarely the case.
Update: This place’s selection has exploded since they started doing weekly beer tastings. When every other place in town has run out of something, they will typically still have it, and then some. | | MmmcKay (13), Brentwood, Tennessee | | January 7, 2010 Smitty is right. The traffic is this area makes trying to get to Grace’s a bit of a nightmare. However, if you’re a local in Green Hills, you really don’t have any other good choices for high gravity beer nearby. The scotch/beer room is nice and well laid out. Really nice looking store. The staff needs a little more education on the products though. I’ll admit that I was asking some serious questions, so I won’t get too picky. Good selection for the area especially. They carry a lot of expensive brews and some more affordable stuff like Avery and Terrapin. Place needs some work. But considering how new they still are, Grace’s is off to a fantastic start. | | illinismitty (275), Nashville, Tennessee | | July 31, 2009 I am very particular about what I decide to add to Nashville’s places section. This place deserves to be on here. This store located next to Trader Joe’s (which carries their own line of contract seasonal beers FYI) in one of the busiest sections of Green Hills. Traffic sucks at all hours of the day and I dread the though of driving there. On the plus side, this store treats beer with respect by placing it in separate room with the Scotch. Total upscale ambiance and proper dim indirect lighting (hey midtown, take note). The beers are all neatly organized on the shelves for easy browsing and the prices are right in line with everyone else in town. Due to TN laws, they only carry beers above 6.2% abv. Expect to find Stone, Terrapin, Schlafly, etc. , as well as Belgian and European stuff. There is also a small selection beer in a cooler that is located in a different room, in case you want it cold. Worth a visit for sure if you can deal with the traffic. Whole Foods is close by in case you want growlers of yazoo (go to the diner, not the beer section for growlers) |
