| Suttree (120), Knoxville, Tennessee | | April 4, 2012 Good selection, especially on the over 6% side, and the staff was helpful without being overbearing. Prices seemed reasonable, and they had a ton of stuff I couldn’t get in Knoxville. The beer side’s selection wasn’t quite as impressive, but still not bad. | | jbrana (27), NASHVILLE, Tennessee | | February 29, 2012 Midtown often has a really great selection of beers. Their staff is VERY hit or miss. Some are very rude, some are very kind. Some are very knowledgeable, some THINK they are very knowledgeable. They fill growlers and typically have some good stuff on tap, but I scratch my head at some of the stuff they choose to offer in growlers (very boring pale ales, etc). The prices are okay, but typically a few dollars more than Frugal MacDougal. I typically only shop here if they have something that Frugal MacDougal is out of. | | edgallow (10), nashville, Tennessee | | January 14, 2012 Great store decent selection. It is annoying to have to use 2 stores to get beer in Tennessee. That is not the stores fault. | | MrBunn (67), Western, Pennsylvania | | June 3, 2011 Stopped in while in Nashville this week... annoying TN problems aside (high abv stuff is in the liquor store portion and the lower beer is in the beer side.) You can split sixers, mix and match, find some good locals and decent import selection, but this is just another beer store. | | nearbeer (144), Knoxville, Tennessee | | May 5, 2011 Nice store, with 6% plus abv beers in the wine and liquor half, and the under 6 in the separated beer shanty. Both sides have good selection, but high gravity side looks like an afterthought with some of the beer tucked in behind the cash registers and vestibule. Nice and knowledgeable staff. Prices are about what to expect in TN: a bit high, but not ridiculous. | | Gregis (24), Shawnee, Kansas | | April 27, 2011 In town for the week, I swung by to grab some regional/local stuff. With the screwy Tennessee liquor laws, the high gravity stuff is on the liquor side and anything at 6.3% ABV and below (I believe that was the break-point) is on the beer/cigar side. I was pleased to see that the guys on the beer side knew their inventory well and could describe most of what I wasn’t familiar with already. Amongst the stuff not available in KS or MO, I found: Yazoo, Sweetwater, Victory, Yuengling, DFH, and a few others. The higher gravity side had a couple employees that were eager to help me with my mini-quest, but other than Yazoo’s Sue, there wasn’t too much that I haven’t already tried or can’t find in KC. The combined selection here is pretty solid, and if you are into sakes, they have one of the best selections I’ve ever seen. If you’re in the area and wanting to make a beer run, this is a solid choice. | | Brigadier (127), Bloomington, Indiana | | January 18, 2011 Stopping on the way out of town I was able to find a good selection of local stuff that doesn’t make it all the way to Ohio. The split sides were a bit annoying as the higher ABV beers were kind of tucked away but the ability to buy Terrapin and French Broad beers relatively cheaply was nice. The clerk even helped carry the case to our car which was a nice tough.
Overall I would probably see what other stores were like in the area to get a better idea but this seems like a nice stop. It did live up to the recommendations I was given by others. | | Alerider (37), Indianapolis, Indiana | | November 20, 2010 Premium place for carry out. Stores (side by side) are big, bright and have a nice selection. | | KYBreakfast (11), Kentucky | | July 14, 2010 This place has a great selection for the location. I picked up an Ommegang Three Philosophers and a 4 pack of Palo Santo. They had the new Sierra Nevada Anniversary beer. About 25 feet of wall space devoted to craft beer. This place is a good/easy place to stop in and get good product quickly. Employees helpful. | | lithy (156), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | May 10, 2010 Looks like a nice store, big space, lots of beer on the under 6 side, a setup in the corner for over 6 stuff. I was quickly helped to the two cases I was picking up and despite systems being down, my card was run correctly via paper with no issues and boxes helped to my car. |
