| beerfest5 (58), Simsbury, Connecticut | | February 8, 2011 not bad for CT, quantity is very high, and quality isnt anything to shake a stick at. mostly normal CT offerings, but a few interesting hard-to-finds. | | Sammy (408), Toronto, Ontario | | August 20, 2010 I went here as told by local bartenders that it was the best store in the state, with everything that can be gotten a hold of in the state. A long double row of beer, which is above average for most stores. The manager quickly saw I knew what I was doing, and gave me carte blanche to break up any 4-packs and 6-packs. Prices were fine. A medium sized store, when taking into account the wine and spirits. | r94uconn (3), Norwalk, Connecticut does not count - explanation | | May 2, 2010 Large selection of beers available in Connecticut. Prices consistent with other stores in the area. | sepia5 (8), Washington DC does not count - explanation | | February 27, 2010 Comparatively speaking, this is probably one of the better beer stores in Connecticut because of the sheer volume of beer that they have. You’ll generally be able to find main run stuff from most microbreweries whose products are distributed in Connecticut--New England Brewing Co., Smuttynose, Allagash, Weyerbacher, Victory, Avery, Southern Tier, Stone, Ballast Point, Ommegang, Brooklyn, etc.-- with a nice selection of rarities sampled in. Also has a pretty good section for Belgians and Germans. For the area, New England Beverage Company in Orange tends to secure more rarities and special releases, but they don’t have as broad a selection. Employees are friendly, but not particularly knowledgeable. When recently shopping, I struck up a conversation with an employee and was told that a new emphasis was soon going to be placed on the beer section, including a new tagging system and more tastings/special events. | | DeadGirl (76), La Jolla, California | | October 26, 2009 Pretty awesome selection. You can buy individual 12oz. bottles and create your own six-pack. Bonus points for the assortment of countries represented. Well organized. #19 on 26102009, DG. | | rocbyter (43), Waterbury, Connecticut | | October 12, 2009 [ Updated March 10, 2010 ] A lot of good well organized beer. Better price than most other places around. Not a very our going staff but I was able to find everything fine. | | elihapa (65), Honolulu, Hawaii | | May 21, 2009 A decent liquor warehouse right of route 15. They have a decent selection of brews for CT, though nothing all that rare or uncommon. Prices are reasonable, and they allow you to split up 6-packs. I would go back again to try out the newest seasonal by Smutty, Sammy, or any other NE brewery. Nice! | | cazort (25), Newark, Delaware | | May 9, 2008 Excellent selection of local beers, as well as imported beers. They let you buy individual beers and the markup for doing so is reasonable. I’ve also seen six-packs of some beers cheaper here than elsewhere. I’ve had very good luck choosing random brews to try off the shelf here. Whoever stocks this place seems to know their stuff. I am fairly picky about beers: I tend to think most American micro-brews aren’t very good, and yet most of the ones I’ve tried here have been at least decent, so there must be some selection process going on. Personally, I have found the staff here to be both available and helpful. The store has never seemed busy and the staff have always been generous with their time and have located what I was looking for very quickly. This store is by far my favorite liquor store in Connecticut and among the best I’ve been to anywhere in the country. | clarke1116 (1), Ottawa, Ontario does not count - explanation | | April 29, 2008 Good selection of beers from the northeast. Not bad international selection as well. Nicely organized, and helpful staff (once you’ve asked for help). Found both DFH WWS and 120 - YUM... | tcruicks (5), Bloomington, Indiana does not count - explanation | | March 18, 2006 Helpful, great selection of microbrews and just a lot of beer overall. |
