Second stop in New Orleans on the trip. This is at the end of Poydras Street across from the casino and part of a pedestrian mall of sorts where the patio is in the alley and there is live music and shops and of course lots of booze. This is where it really became obvious that the NBA all star weekend was in full swing. Iíve never seen so many Bulls jerseys before, not even in Chicago. Lots of drunken obnoxious people, but inside the restaurant it wasnít bad, though the service at the bar was slow and a bit negligent. The restaurant is similar to the others in dťcor and atmosphere but laid out a bit different. The bar area is all the way in the back by the patio which is accessible from the alley. The real difference is that the bar is a bit more separated from the rest of the place than usual. Probably a good thing in New Orleans if youíre trying to get both the party atmosphere at the bar and provide a fine dining experience in the dining room.
I got a glass of the mardi gras bock which was my first experience with this concept. Itís an imperial maibock of sorts. Not bad per se but Iím not a fan of pale bocks. I like my bocks dark and malty, and preferably not too imperialized. Say what you will about Gordon Biersch but they do German beers fairly well, though they have a tendency to make their hefe kind of lemony and Americanized (bitter garbage served with a slice of orange).
The food was good and expensive as usual. The "artisanal grilled cheese" sandwich was quite nice. Loads of melted gruyere on sourdough are good enough for me, but they put on bacon and avocado. The garlic fries were good but potent, so be warned. If youíre into German beer this is a nice place to stop in but there are better beer bars in the city.

Modern bar in a old area. The prices were good, and a few of the beers were good. Other then that nothing special.

Very very much chain "brewpub" in the centre of tourist New Orleans. Extremely crowded on a Saturday night (when the Saints were playing). Slow service and very uncomfortable seats (not necessarily all). Not much good to say. Nothing fundamentally wrong either.

Stopped in for a quick beer after leaving Riverwalk. Not a horrible experience but itís not really a place to go unless you are a German beer fan, in which you have probably been to one of these because theyíre all over the country. Just their beers on tap, but they are fresh. I did not try the food.

Nice uncovered patio for fair weather. Long bar with brass footrail with view onto outdoor patio. Adjacent lounge with tall tables and booth seating with view into stainless brewhouse. Six flarscreen TVs with generic sports. Ajoining dining area and open kitchen.
8 taps with standard and seaaonal draughts. Full menu includes salmon dishes and sweef potato fries appetizers.
Happy Hour 4-6:30 M-F. Crowd mostly male convention-goers. Ba kgroung music allows for conversation. No TV audio, thankfully.

Stopped by for a beer and a snack before a late dinner reservation. Sat outside. Efficient service, mediocre beer, ok food, and a very corporate atmosphere. Not very New Orleans, but good in a pinch if youíre in the area and thirsty and/or hungry.

Nice location on Poydras street. Intimate dark wood. And then you drink the mediocre beer. They had 5 beers. The hefe was decent. Like many reviews have said if youíve been in one Biersch youíve been to them all.

Itís a Biersch -- you know what to expect. Solid German-style brews and excellent food at a reasonable price. Yes, itís a chain, but a good one. Blocks from the Super Dome and many tourist attractions, good place for a pre-game snack in December. (Brewery #522)
