Small, cramped bar a little bit too close to puzzl’s house for my liking. Long bar with stools so close to the back wall, it gets quite claustrophobic. Tap list was quality over quantity. Only 10-15 taps. Listed on a back mirror with children’s magnets. Nice stuff, but almost impossible to read from an angle. Taps including local breweries I had not heard of before, Aecht Schlenkerla Fastenbier, Thornbridge, smoked and sours. No food that I know of. Bartender was nice, but oddly was convinced that Aecht Schlenkerla Fastenbier was bottled. I asked to see this bottle and it was Glazen Toren Lentebier. Um.. Pretty chill vibe, but wasn’t blowing my mind after all day out at Torst. Clearly I’m spoiled.

Visited with Puzzl on a late Friday afternoon. This place is tiny, as Max mentioned, smallish table up front, then a long narrow bar. Towards the back, there is barely even enough space to get past the barstools to the bathroom. When I visited, there were the perfect amount of people present, though I can see where this could be a mess when busy. Tap list was really, really good - 11 taps of unique and well chosen beers. There were bottles available as well, though my attention really didn’t’ wander past the draft list. The bartender was a total pro, huge amount of beer knowledge, yet very respectful in the way he approached every customer. He geeked it out with me, then turned around and did a spot on "beer 101" explanation to help a newbie make a selection. Good music, great vibe, I absolutely loved this place. Must visit for visitors, must visit for locals (when they have some extra change in the pocket, this place is understandably pricey).

One of my favorite new-er places in the city. Pretty tiny with one 6-person table, a few window seats and then a bunch of stools at the bar. The tap list here is the most unique in NYC, outside of Torst. They’ll typically have beers from Thornbridge and the B. United portfolio on tap, among others. Draft prices range anywhere from $6-12 and pours are typically in the 8-12 oz range. A bit pricy to be sure, but at the same time, you really won’t find these beers anywhere else on tap. Bartenders really know their stuff here and are pretty friendly. A must-visit for people visiting NYC.

An interesting addition to the NYC beer scene. Despite its name, which suggests a mainstream/blue collar profile, Proletariat is a narrow, comfortable bar that features a tap list aimed at the knowledgable imbiber. Thomas, the beverage manner, is friendly and knows a lot about beers. There aren’t a ton of taps, but they carry a number of very unusual items and local brews, and the list changes constantly. Some reasonably priced offerings are interspersed with the expensive brews aimed at aficionados - but the prices are definitely on the high side. Still, this is an interesting spot and worth visiting.

The bar struck me as small, the bar is like a diner counter, with backless swivel stools. The service was excellent, with an attentive barkeep who knew what he was talking about when it came to beer, Limited number of taps, but always a very eclectic selection. Slightly pricey, but not ad for the part of Manhattan it’s located in. Very good place overall.

Stopped in day after B United tasting to try some awesome barrel aged beers. The bartender was late showing up as i was opening the place but he was very pleasant and let me do a flight of 6 half pours of awesome brew which he didn’t let anyone else do to rarity. It’s decorated like a tattoo parlor and is small and chill. Really interesting tap list and pours water out of OE 80 40’s which is funny. Definitely be back

Smangin’ new place in the East Village. Reminds me a lot of Spuyten Duyvil in its selection. Only 10 taps, but they’re all carefully picked and there is a lot of interesting stuff no matter when you stop by. A bit pricy, but you pay a premium for this kind of beer.

We went here to grab a drink before meeting people for dinner nearby, and I was pretty impressed. This was a pretty good place to grab something you probably wouldn’t find on tap at some of the other beer bars in the city. The place is tiny. A bar runs along most of it, and if your sitting on a bar stool, you can easily lean back and touch the wall on the other side. As for the beer, they had a smallish, but impressive draft list, ranging from unique International stuff to very local (I only saw NY, as far as US goes) American micro offerings. The prices are on par with everything else in Manhattan, especially considering that it was mostly International beers. I’ll return for sure. There were only maybe 6 or 7 people in there, and the one bartender was attentive, friendly, and seemed to know his beer.

Stopped in here with Andy, Pearl, Paul, Anthony, and Jenny late on a Tuesday night. Not the biggest place ever but the atmosphere is quite nice. Tap list was eclectic featuring a number of interesting local beers and a few more unique things. Prices were in line with most every other bar in the city. Service was fast and friendly. I’ll certainly try and stop back at some point and spend more than a half hour here (we figured we’d be here for an hour or so whilst waiting for a table at Ippudo, but they managed to fit us in earlier).
