Geez, there are a lot of bars in this area. Maybe stopping at every one of them for a beer wasnít the best idea... Despite that I liked this one a fair amount. Granted it was loud and over run with people watching the hockey game. Not even sure where all these people came from but there was a large pile of backpacks in the middle of the floor and the tables had been pushed around so these people could sit together (more like stand and yell, but who am I to judge?) but somehow there were a couple open seats at the bar. The bar smelled of freshly applied lemony cleaning agents which was not pleasant but the service was quick and friendly and the bartender even offered some free tasters. There were at least two or three beers I hadnít tried before including a decent IPA from Peekskill. There was a Smuttynose session IPA and a Captain Lawrence IPA that I hadnít tried. The rest were a mix of locals, Founders, Dogfish Head, and a couple of garbage taps (PBR and Guinness). Prices were naturally high.

Not really a beer nerd spot but I could think of worse places to watch the game. Also, right outside was a street fair that had lots of good smelling food.

A bit of a dive and a place I frequented often in my early years in NYC. Decent tap selection and can get very crowded at peak hours. A good option to stop by for a quick beer of youíre in the neighborhood, but not a destination bar. Prices and service are decent.

Opens 8 am. That was the only reason for me to visit when wandering around in Little Italy and Chinatown. Intentional rude service (I guess that was the catch). Still it made me a bit uncomfortable. Decent selection of draught beers.

A divey little place that reminds me of Pony Bar but with 20 years of wear and tear on it. Has a very worn in feel. Bright and airy though. Very reasonably priced with a decent selection of craft stuff. Gets very busy whenever thereís a game on (even though itís not really a sports bar at all) but seems to settle down a bit in the mid to late afternoon. If youíre stuck shopping with your wife in SoHo, this is a great refuge to grab a couple of pints.

Nolita/Soho joint at the corner of Mulberry that has been around since the 1920ís...or forever, basically. Features a regular crowd of firemen from down the block as well and people off the SoHo shopping circuit .Nice big giant wraparound windows make it a great daytime place if youíre in the neighborhood. Usually 7-8 craft brews on draft along with the usual suspects. Pretty low price point, especially for the area.
