Apalling service and quality! Sold us an expensive bottle of wine and on the way out the shop the bag was so cheap it broke! Had the audacity to ask if we’d snagged it on a tree, but said it would get in touch their bags salesmen the following week and refused to refund the money, Just laughable. Shop unclean too.

Just the best place in the region to find out of the ordinary beers from far and wide. Out of the city centre, but worth the trip, and easily reached by bus or metro. Pricey, but not for what they deliver, and they do have offers.

A great selection of English beers, with plenty from Belgium and Germany too. The stock changes all the time and there have been beers from Cuba and Tanzania before. Well priced too.

Your usual convenience store with twist. Massive selection of beers. Lots of vines and whiskeys as well.

This shop is something of an upmarket version of the traditional ’corner shop’. Through the back there is a reasonable sized wine/beer cellar. The selection is not huge, I’d guess 100-150 beers, but what they have is generally good. On my visit there was Orval, Rochefort, Westmalle, St Bernardus, various decent belgians, several german/czech lagers, a few american and canadian beers (including stone and dogfish head), ciders and a selection of lager type beers from around the world. Reasonable collection of british ales, a lot of samuel smiths.

A fantastic delicatessen, just off the main coast road, between Newcastle and Tynemouth, A wander through to the back of the store reveals a large room dedicated to good beer and wine. Great range of UK bottled beers, an increasing number of US micro bottles, plus a good range from Europe and around the globe. In the last year, mini casks from local brewers have been sold (usually Wylam and Durham breweries), along with glassware for a few Belgian beers. An absolute treat and the best in the area by a long way.
