| kassner (53), Wexford, Pennsylvania | | May 22, 2012 Only time for drinks and beer conversation with richard the owner. you can tell when someone just wants you to enjoy yourself. quite a selection and knowledge | | auerbrau (232), Peace Dale, Rhode Island | | February 28, 2011 Okay, so I hate this place too. I suspect that it’s run by the same people who manage Mew’s, it’s got some of the same peculiarities in beer menu listing as Mew’s does. The atmosphere is classic douche 80s holdover. The food looks like it was dumped off a Sysco truck and we waited unnecessarily long for the bartender to serve us. Won’t be back, it’s not worth going out of the way. Honor one of the local brewers instead. | | chriso (258), London, England | | July 15, 2010 Visited on a rainy Saturday night in April 2010. A pleasant, cosy spot right in the centre of Newport. Warm cosy atmosphere. Although the name may suggest otherwise this seemed more of a restaurant than a place to go just for a drink. We had intended to eat here and then do a pub crawl of Newport but the torrential rain, and the fact that everywhere in town seemed packed to the rafters, meant we lingered here longer than we originally intended. But that was no great hardship. Had a rather more laid back atmosphere than most spots in town (on a busy Saturday night anyway) and a more mature, but not geriatric, clientele. 30 plus beers on tap with a lot of new England stuff. Nothing particularly rare although they did have a beer specially brewed (allegedly) for them by Magic Hat to celebrate their 35th birthday. Also a couple of Coastal Extremes, which was mainly what I was after. Food was excellent. Not cheap but I wasn’t really expecting that in Newport. Definitely worth a visit when in Newport but wouldn’t merit a special trip. | | halfonit (64), Fall River, Massachusetts | | February 28, 2010 I’ve walked by this place numerous times and always wondered how it was. So today my girlfriend and I decided to give it a try once I saw that there was Magic Hat Y-35 on tap. Having never heard of such I beer, it raised my interest and I had to try it out. Once I got inside, I was surprised to see the quality selection they had. Prices were typical Newport and the service was very attentive. I didn’t have anything to eat but I’ll go there again sometime this summer and give the food a try. Very nice old rustic English style bar. | | bigrond (39), factoryville, Pennsylvania | | April 2, 2008 went here before a wedding - it was real nice. It was a cold rainy day ....but in Yesterdays, none of that mattered.
It could have been a hurricane and as long as the beer flowed. It was all good. | | Cletus (211), Connecticut | | June 10, 2006 Typical Newport scene. When I stopped in, they were packed. Despite that, the bartender was very helpful which speaks volumes for this place. The best selection you will find in Newport, though nothing earth shattering. Most of the taps were your typical larger micros and macros with a few exceptions. | | Nate (246), Indiana, Pennsylvania | | September 22, 2004 Had lunch and a schooner sampler here during a day trip to Newport. Small but decent micro selection on tap. Good food. |
