72 decent, but greasy food. service is solid. they don’t always have good beers on tap, but when they do they REALLY do. need more space on the inside and better decoration, though. most of the time you don’t notice the terribly tacky interior design because it’s so crowded all you see are the people. |
88 Being from out of town this was our second visit and it was a good one. We were with friends that enjoy beer as much as we do. Our last beer was a triple fermented imperial stout by Anchorage Brewing. To find this beer in the middle of Iowa makes this one of our best stops of this trip. Our server knew beer and was helpful. Did I say the food was good, too. If you traveling on I-80, go up to North Liberty. |
90 A winner since it opened. Reds has great ambiance and amazing food. The beer selection is unheard of in Iowa, and the prices are on point. If you are ever in the area it’s worth a stop. |
76 Located in a residential neighborhood across the street from something called the JA and Tap. The place was packed on a Saturday night but there are some grass lots next to the parking lot for extra parking. Theres lots of dark wood on the inside which adds an intimacy to the place which is somewhat undercut by the sheer volume this place can produce. The tap list was solid but leaned towards west coast craft. The bartenders were busy but they all pitched in to help me. The fries were nothing to write home about but the cheeseburger was fantastic. Like other places in Iowa the beer is a touch expensive, of course they have better stuff than I ever expected, but the food was very reasonably priced. All in all it’s another really good place in what Is clearly an underrated state for craft beer. |
72 Nice place. Big outdoor patio with tons in the summer. Quite a few draft lines but not too many to become annoying. They seem to have a pretty deep cellar with random things being pulled at given times. Probably one of the best beer bars in Iowa. Service is passable but no different than any place around the area. Food is decent, exactly what you’d expect from a beer bar. This place does get quite packed and quite loud any given day of the week, and as far as I know they don’t take reservations. Parking can be a bit difficult at times as well. |
86 Stopped by for lunch. Service was friendly and up on the beer selection. Nice selection of draft beers. They had a tap menu and a bottle menu. Bottles available for carry-out. Bottle menu was very impressive. Food was very good and prices seemed reasonable. Well worth the few miles north of Iowa City. |
94 Best bottle selection I have ever seen and always a great draft rotation to allow me to explore new styles. It's fair to say they have the right formula for craft beer in Iowa. |
78 Great food and a good selection of beer for the area. Only 12 taps with high bottle prices would be the main drawback. This place is always packed no matter what night of the week and it is very loud with televisions on the bar side and loud talking on both sides of the restaurant. That said, the food is wonderful and the wait staff is generally knowledgeable and friendly although the manager and owner seem to know less about beer than the staff. The bottle selection is very good and what is on tap is a good selection of what is available in Iowa. If you are in the area and want some great food and good this is a good place to stop. |
84 Visited here recently and I was very impressed. The line up was fairly small but all quality. Various Bell’s, Toppling Goliath and specialty New Belgium brews graced the taps. The bartender was knowledgeable and even let me sample a couple beers. Solid overall line up and a fun place to visit. Great place for a stop to get some great beer. I will definitely return. |
86 Your diamond in the rough when it comes to great beer on tap in Eastern Iowa.
Also great food! |
