Handily located near (but not too near) to the railway station for those occasions when I miss my intended train home - either accidentally or deliberately. FM&C is a perfectly pleasant place for a post work pint. Always a decent range of well-known brews (Timothy Taylor, Black Sheep, Admirals, etc) with at least three of those pumps on rotation with a desire to support local CAMRA breweries. No longer a brewpub as far as I can tell. Friendly service. Sport on TV quietly in the corner. Decent crowd. Really quite good.

No longer a brewpub, the Fellows does have a house beer (or two) brewed by the Nottingham Brewery. The atmosphere inside the pub is fairly stale, but in the summer the beer garden is considerably more pleasant than that of the neighbouring Canalhouse (whose beer selection is considerably better). It’s an average pub, not worth going out of your way to visit if you’re on a Nottingham crawl.

I’m not entirely sure this is a brewpub anymore, there wasn’t much sign of life in the brewery upstairs. At least there was a house beer though. Service and choise was fine, a nice looking place in an area of smart canalside bars. When I was there the clientele was rather downmarket though.

Well, this is a brewpub in Nottingham, less than 10 minutes away from the train station by foot and on the way to the castle, so you should definitely stop by to try the housebrews. Besides them, you can expect to find a minimal bottle selection and perhaps 5 real ales. Not a place I’d spend several hours in, but a worthy stop with good service. The flat-screens have perhaps ruined the oldish impression a bit though.

haddonsman kindly introduced me to this brewpub on a grand tour of Nottingham on a Winter’s day towards the end of last year. Very relaxed and spacious interior but there was also an area outside by the canal which looked pretty picturesque, not sure if there’s a beer garden but it would be a nice location to enjoy a pint or two on a Summer’s day. I liked the local brews and this is a pub that’s handy for the station and the Olde Trip if you’re heading there.

Oldest brewpub in the city, down by the canal. Two house beers brewed on site, another is kick-started by the Nottingham Brewery for them. Sky Sports on all day (sound turned down outside of major events), decent cafe-bar style food, on the popular canal pub circuit but close to other real ale pubs. Couple of minutes walk from the railway station and several other good ale pubs.
