| bhensonb (287), Woodland, California | | January 18, 2009 I’d swear the beer list had 50 on tap, but 10 were visible. Maybe I misread it. Nice place. Good selection. Not a place for the very rare beers. They had a Moonlight. Some other good local brews. | bradlyc77 (6), Sebastopol, California does not count - explanation | | November 20, 2008 [ Updated January 23, 2009 ] Definitely off the beaten path, but if you live in Sebastopol like I do, just a hop, skip and a jump over to Occidental. Beer selection is pretty good, tap and bottles. But the food alone is worth the trip out. Try anything with the Chimay Pretzel chicken, also excellent fish sandwich and the price is really reasonable for what you get. | | joet (43), Fulton, California | | August 3, 2008 A bit far off the 101, this is a bit of a trek for most beer travelers and nothing unusual enough to beg the trip but those on the coastal route will want to stop in the small hamlet of Occidental to enjoy this perfect setting for a pint and friendly conversation. The service is great just a few (three) folks busting their butts extended from the kitchen to the bar. The food menu is small but has all of elevated pub grub (handcut organic fries, burgers, fresh daily Lagunitas-battered fish) plus an array of finer California selections at very competitive prices it’s definitely a bargain. I was surprised the beer selection contained nothing from the world class local brewer, Russian River Brewing which would add some big cachet, and only a single bottle from Sonoma County powerhouse, Bear Republic. No gueuze, barrel aged stuff, smoked beers, Shelton Brothers Norwegians or Belgians, non-Chimay Trappists or other exotics for the beer geeks. Still a mighty fine line up and a very worthwhile stop if you’re passing through the area. |
