| csaso (71), Missouri | | December 7, 2011 [ Updated January 3, 2012 ] I thihk this placed is closed. No website, no answered calls, and no lights on as I drove by at 7:30 Thursday night. | | troyc (147), Oklahoma | | July 5, 2011 OK... It’s time for a down to earth review of this place. Visited on a weekday evening. Quite a few people were there. Interesting vibe included a trend feel to the bar, but kinda a dive atmosphere besides that. THe bartenders seemed nice and pretty knowledgeable. Some good beer on tap including locals and a few harder to find selections. Didn’t check out the bottle list, but it did look quite big. A nice place to drink a few. Definitely not as good as the propaganda below might suggest. | Ohiobeersnob (1), , does not count - explanation | | January 17, 2011 This bar is Awesome! Its a great vibe, great people, great bartenders and servers. Great beer selection that constantly rotates.
The owners built everything themselves so it took forever for the darn place to get open but thank God it did! This is my favorite spot downtown. The 2 owners are brewers themselves and really love beer, and it shows. They train their staff well on the beers, they are very good about recommending beers to the guests and if they dont know the answer to a question they will have the owners explain anything you desire from beer styles to the brewing process.
They have specials every night and even have a special brewery night where a representative from a select brewery comes in and talks about the beer and often brings RARE beers you can’t get anywhere else. The bands during these brew days are always great as well.
There is a private party room which is great for corportae events or graduation parties. All wood bar and wood floors. They play great music here all the time and have a great sound system.
I cant say enough about this place. Last time I went in the owners werent there (which is rare) because they were drinking at Max & Joes (next to Crescent Moon). Its nice to see that the guys from the moon patronize The Foundation and visa versa.
| Foundation (2), Omaha, Nebraska does not count - explanation | | January 17, 2011 The Owners of this bar are constantly there working or hanging out and love talking to the newcomers and regulars. They are homebrewers and one was a professional brewer and know a lot about beer. The taps are constantly changing so every time you come in there is something new. Service industry night is a big hit on Tuesdays. They do a Brew U night every thursday where a brewery representative gives out free samples and talks to the guests about the beers. They have a private lounge for parties and events. Great audio system and really chill guests.
They have a gas blender which blends CO2 and Nitrogen for a slightly creamier pour. One of the few bars around which has separate blends for their beers. (Not just for guinness)
They are also good about promoting other beer bars and breweries as many of them have worked at local brewpubs. They will tell you to go to the Crescent Moon, Jakes, Brass Monkey, Mr Toad, Upstream, Nebraska Brewing CO, Library Pub etc. Its nice to see bar owners working together to build up eachother’s clientel.
Check it out! |
