| beerguy101 (69), Newark, California | | February 27, 2012 Interesting place. The SF Themed decor is a little weird, but its not the whole place. The place itself is rather large, with good lighting and nice spacing between tables. I was there mid-afternoon on a rainy Monday and it was mostly empty. The service was good. I even got an additional taster beer because the Black IPA was not on tap when I ordered. The beers are mostly Brew pub standard. The food is better than average. Nice place. I good spot for the family. | | bnoel09 (20), Elk Grove, California | | December 1, 2011 Sat at the bar and had a sampler set. Beer was all good, but nothing spectacular. Everything they had on tap currently was on the lighter side with the exception of the Annihilator Doppelbock. Service was fairly good but my food did take a little while to come out. Food itself was fairly good, but again nothing spectacular. Overall a place worth visiting if you are in the area, but nothing worth going very far out of the way for. | | womencantsail (53), Home of Rebecca Black, California | | August 29, 2011 Sort of a lame idea: a San Francisco themed brewpub in the heart of Orange County.
Their beer is mediocre for the most part, with some beers being above average and others being downright awful.
Food is typical bar food. Nothing to really write home about. Service is decent to poor. | | can8ianben (84), Souderton, Pennsylvania | | December 28, 2010 The food was solid but unspectacular, and the beer was for the most part, pretty mediocre. Felt like everything was softened for the masses - any "brewpub" with a giftshop when you walk in seems to give you a feeling for what takes priority.
Having said that, the happy hour pricing is hard to beat for SoCal. The atmosphere is a bit cheesy with the Golden Gate Bridge and whatnot, but there are plenty of TVs, and the service was friendly. | | JohnnyJ (94), San Diego, California | | November 29, 2010 Typical BJ’s type chain feel. Not something I am really a fan of. As such the beers where mediocre, but fairly cheap for the sampler. The bartender forgot my food order, but offered me a beer. Food was decent, not spectacular. Not very interesting of a place. | | Ungstrup (335), Oamaru, New Zealand | | November 3, 2010 We had a hard time locating this place in the mall, but once there found a big place. We seated outside, so didn’t get that much of the Alcatraz/SF feel, which I find odd in Orange. A bit stressfull to be seated outside, since all the mall-goers were wandering by all the time - next time - I’m sitting inside. 7 beers on tap of decent to good quality and a bottled cider that I hadn’t tried. The food was decent, and the prices cheap coming from Europe. A good stop driving south from LAX. | | Sledutah (151), Utah | | November 1, 2010 Alcatraz themed restaurant with the Golden Gate Bridge hanging from the ceiling. The food and beer were both pretty good. I’d go back when I’m in the area. | | BMan1113VR (279), Los Angeles, California | | October 19, 2010 Visited on a rainy week day. Large space. Plenty of parking. Not sure about the name, the only connection to San Francisco is the name and the decor. Food was surprisingly good, and the beers ranged from okay to good for the style. All seemed pretty safe choices (except for a preview I got to try later from the brewer). Service was friendly, but a bit inattentive. Brewer seemed a bit brisk at first, but it turns out he was rushed. He later came back and talked for a while and shared a few upcoming beers. Worth a stop if you are in the area. | | StefanSD (41), Lakeside, California | | October 24, 2009 [ Updated October 25, 2009 ] Visited this location while attending a conference and residing at the nearby Doubletree Hotel. I was looking for a place within walking distance to the hotel and found this. This brewpub has the character of a sports bar more-so than anything else. The few beers I sampled were very good. It appears that they have a head brewer who knows what he is doing. The staff was friendly and the service was great. As for food, I had a calzone, tasty and cheap. Overall: Nothing to go out of way for, but a decent choice if you are in the area. | | JohnC (137), Mission Viejo, California | | July 21, 2009 Nice place at the "Block of Orange" shopping mall, the food was good, the staff was friendly and the beers were decent. |
