| GT2 (196), Washington DC | | December 28, 2011 I’m almost tempted to have this one removed from ratebeer. First it causes a lot of confusion with the larger beer focused store on Hiawassee slash Orange Blossom Trail. Second, this store is about 2% beer with a minimal selection in the back. I did find De Dolle Oerbier Reserva here and some CCB Good Gourd. So...maybe not all is wasted coming here but selection is very small. 40 different bottles MAX. | | Chipalsa (18), Florida | | June 4, 2011 I went to the wrong one... The selection is pretty nice given the size of the store. However nothing really stands out. I’m sure the staffing is different now, but the last time I was there no one could help me find a St. Bernardus ABT 12 - I eventually did find it though. | | DuffMan (185), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta | | February 13, 2011 Came here thinking (mistakenly) that we were walking into a beer nirvana, to find that selection was, well, a little lacking. Sure there were a bunch of Cigar City big bottles, and about a dozen other Eastern American singles for purchse, and about 20 imports or so, but that was all. Then the owner told us to get back in our car and drive another 10-15 minutes to the Orange Blossom Trail location for over 800 beers to choose from. So that’s what we did. | | satan165 (101), River Grove, Illinois | | September 1, 2009 if not for hiawasee blvd, this would end up a huge hit. two hearted in florida for gods sakes! the abscense of the service present in the other ’branch’ is what really hurts. they still have the entire CCB line, so how bad can it be? | | BigMilly8 (22), Holiday, Florida | | February 11, 2008 Found this place while i was looking for the Fire Academy. Has a few bottles, some craft stuff, but mainly a liquor store for sure. Compared to its store across town bearing a similiar name.....well it really doesnt compare. | | Immy (107), Virginia Beach, Virginia | | April 16, 2007 Just a clarification - this is NOT the location with a huge beer selection. Apparently, a few reviewers have mistakenly placed ratings for the Hiawassee Blvd store here. This is a rather average liquor store in a strip mall with a few choice beers in the back section. Not a bad little selection - DFH, Allagash, St. Bernardus, Great Divide and several others of note, but nothing to write home about. | peter48er (4), Liverpool, England does not count - explanation | | January 16, 2007 [ Updated April 24, 2007 ] On holiday from the Uk over Xmas and New Year 2006/7. Stocked up twice at the MetroWest location during our 3 week stay and couldn’t have found a more eclectic and varied choice anywhere back home. Majored on US Craft/microbrewery beers as these are so hard to get in UK. Not a single disappontment. What fantastic flavours and such a wide choice. If you are into Belgian beers ( which I am) they stock an amazing range. Overall I cannot recommend this store too highly and would urge any lovers of ’real’ ale to visit, whether resident or on holiday. This post relates to the South Hiawassee Blvd store, as no other site is quoted on this site at the moment. | NYMojoMan (6), Arden, North Carolina does not count - explanation | | June 13, 2006 [ Updated July 31, 2007 ] I accidentaly rated this ( THought it was Knightly on HIawasee) and don’t live there any longer Sorry. If someone can delete this tyhat would be great. Don’t want to contribute anything positive or negative, when I haven’t been here | | hopdog (220), Lansdale, Pennsylvania | | February 17, 2006 Nice selection of Belgians (especially Guezes!). Lots of 22oz Rogue bottles and misc. other goodies. Glad I stopped here to stock up the Hotel Room. 2 Ratebeerians work/run the place - definitely stop by here! | | JMFG (18), Florida | | July 24, 2005 This review refers to the MetroWest location. All the beer is in the back, and the liquor and wine take up the most space. A good selection (there are lot of 22 ouncers here) and the manager chooses wisely. He is obviously is enthusiatic and knowledgeable about beer, and I usually end up discussing beer with him for a while when I go in. He stocks most of the Dogfish, Avery, Great Divide, and Allagash stuff, is always getting different stuff and will get brews if you ask. |
