JonnyBeer (3), Vancouver, British Columbia does not count - explanation | | December 24, 2011 DO NOT take the Keihan line to get here! Took me forever to find the place. Use the Taishibashi-Imaichi subway station, exit #5,tanimachi line. Go up the stairs and turn right, it’s not too far, before the lights, right hand side of the highway. The shop sign is made out of wood. It’s fairly small, but they have windows so you can see inside all the liquor.
Ok, now that you’ve found it, WOW! I went to Tanakaya in Tokyo but this place impressed me more, but I have a unique story. It was Christmas Eve and I was ready to go crazy because I couldn’t find the place. Almost gave up, but then remembered something about the subway station being close. I walked up and down the road and finally found it. It is small, but they pack in loads of beers. Lots of Beligiums, US West Coast beers, Hawaii beers, almost all the Brewdog and Mikkeller beers, lots of Stone. The best part for me was the huge Japanese Beer selection. MUCH better than anywhere I found in Tokyo.
I started talking with the owner, he speaks decent English, understands beer very well. They have beer parties once a month, I just missed the night before :( BUT he had some leftovers and kindly offered me a Belgium Christmas beer from one of his taps. While drinking a glass we explored the beer selections, he pointed out some rare beers. We talked about Canada and the Olympics. Then I guess because I spent so much he offered me another pint, of Isseki Nicho, AMAZING beer from Dieu Du Ciel and Shiga Kogen. Then as I was paying be brought out 2 bottles of Sake for me, for free!
This place was a great find for me and made Christmas Eve in Osaka that much better. I’ll be back!

what was a soy sauce factory 50-100 years ago,is now a beer/sake/liquor store.good selection of both imported beer as well as ji-biiru.
beer parties once a month.friendly service and average prices for the kansai region. | | KyotoLefty (286), Kyoto, Japan | | July 23, 2011 [ Updated May 9, 2012 ] Crazy booze store in north-eastern Osaka near the Keihan Takii station. Right on Route 1. 2 rooms filled with bottles. Tons of beer. Probably the second largest collection of Japanese Craft beer in the country. Lots of imports too, good stuff from all over. Some vintage beers as well--had a 1999 3F Geuze. Owner is a great guy, very friendly, likes speaking English. One of the best beer stores in Japan. Prices average. Lots of sake as well. |
