| BeerFanatic999 (10), Cochrane, Alberta | | April 17, 2012 Pub Italia is without a doubt the greatest Pub in the city of Ottawa. A selection of specialty beers that absolutely cannot be beaten. Good food, but a little pricy. Better than the average bar food though. | | simontheeditor (11), Richmond, England | | April 5, 2012 Excellent pub and restaurant in Ottawa’s Little Italy district (bus #85 from downtown). Has a unique quirky atmosphere. Large selection of European beers, fewer local brews. | | lalu (37), Laval, Quebec | | January 9, 2012 Cozy place, nice chill atmosphere.
Lots of beers to choose from.
A bit pricey.
the food looked and smelled awesome, I did not have any.
would definitely return if i am in Ottawa. | | Johnsense (33), , | | January 7, 2012 Can be busy and sometimes the hours may thow you off a bit. Typical pub atmosphere. Fairly good service. Food can be hit or miss but one of the better selections in Ottawa. Micros and Imports. Prices are about what you would expect. One of the few Ottawa places you may be able to enjoy Westy 12. Parking can be a chore. Even if you come when this place is packed or clsed there is some good Italian eats on Preston. | | worldbeertaste (46), , England | | September 29, 2011 Don’t ask the waitress’s any advice they really don’t have a clue. Everytime its their first day., The best beer selection in Otttawa. Little expensive but I’ll never get board of this place. Food is cheap and really tasty. | | gramity (22), Edmonton, Alberta | | September 16, 2011 The styling and feel of this pub is definitely one of the more interesting and enjoyable that I’ve seen. It has quite a mix of your standard "pub" stylings with Italian and Abby influences throughout.
I came for the beer. They had Westy 12 @ $40 a bottle and the 8 and 6 for $30. The bottle list was pretty extensive and lots of quality beers on tap.
I went to the little Abby corner tucked away by the bathrooms to see what was in the cooler and not on the menu. These bottles appear to be priced quite high. Dominus Vobiscum Lupulus was $40. Buyer beware at those prices.
In summary, loved the place and I will remember it as the site of my first Westy 12. | | pushkinwow (54), Ottawa, Ontario | | August 23, 2011 Probably the best place in Ottawa proper for beer. 30+ taps that combine local, Canadian and US and other (mostly Belgian and Britain). Bottle list is fairly extensive - the owner has good connections with distributers out of Toronto and gets good stuff as long as he thinkg it will more (e.g. Westy, burlywine) but doesn’t seem to have an appetitite for the more exotic stuff like Cantillon, Mikkeller etc - with a very good selection of Belgians and other tasty treats (make sure to walk into the abbey and look in the "special fridge" to see what they have thats not on the menu. Atmoshphere is great, combines a pub and a church, although it can get quite noisy when crowded - patio is nice. Food has gone down hill quite a lot over the past couple of years - probably better to eat elsewhere on the street since you are in the heart of Little Italy. Service can be hit and miss depending on how you get. All that being said if you don’t want to cross into Quebec, or you just want some good beer, this is the place to go in Ottawa. | | jacobm52 (10), Pennsylvania | | April 7, 2011 Great selection of beers. Rivals anywhere I’ve ever been. Prices are high but everywhere in Canada is. | | JesseM (31), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario | | August 7, 2010 Visisted here twice. Second time was far better than the first so this rating will come primarily from that experience. Really cool place with stained-glass windows and wrot-iron fencing decorating. Seating feels somewhat cozy despite how big this place actually is. Was super busy my first visit and the service was okay but horribly inattentive and apathetic. But the second time the service was much better, very friendly and surprisingly knowledgeable about beer (seems to vary by server). Food was quite good, had the meat head pizza. Decently priced too, okay quantities. Beer is pretty solid, prices are good on draught pints but bottles were bizarrely high on most things (higher than what they would be on draught). So I didn’t bother getting anything from that extensive list. Nothing available that will blow your mind but some good offerings. My first experience made me pretty hesitant to go back, but the second definitely made up for it. Check it out when you’re in Ottawa for sure. | | MXD (12), Gatineau/St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec | | July 18, 2010 Nice, nice pub in Little Italy in Ottawa. Many sections in the bar - the terrace is really so-so though. Like the abbey. Lots of beer-related objects inside (it was really wierd to see a Mickey’s sandwiched between two Chimay bleue, however. Annoying hip-hop. Service was a bit slow, and it was sunday, but then, I asked for a "beer of the month", which might explain. 200+ beers and 30+ taps and 10+ beers of the month. Interesting, but still second to L’Autre Oeil in the region. Will try food someday. Prices are in line with Ottawa’s pubs. |
