| gmylonas (10), Alberta | | April 21, 2012 Ok. Lets start with the usual review points:
- Girls : Excellent !
- Beer : Cold and Tasty.
| | KapitiCritique (32), Kansas City, Missouri | | August 15, 2011 Excellent value, the prices were a surprise. Flights are very generous, 5 for 9.00 or premium 3 for 9.00.
Its a sports bar, large, music is mostly loud pop, ample seating, friendly wait staff.
Selection is very good. Not up to the best cross the border due to availability issues but very good. | | TheRealMGD (54), Lakewood, Washington | | May 30, 2011 [ Updated April 2, 2012 ] Stopped in for lunch after a long day on the road. Atmosphere is on the ’chain’ side of things, as if you could find a Barley’s in every ville next to the Chilis. You’d be hard-pressed to feel at home here. Still, it’s clean and they have a patio for when the weather suits. Selection is excellent and you can find all the popular local micros here, alongside a good cross section of national craft brews and international standards.Whether all the kegs are fresh would require multiple visits to ascertain, but both of my pints were primo. Service is competent, beer knowledge wasn’t really tested on this visit. Barley’s does seem to attract knowledgeable customers. A must-visit when in KC for the selection alone. | | beastiefan2k (141), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas | | January 2, 2011 There aren’t many beer bars in KC and this is one of the better places to go. Having said that it lacks a lot. Have been here a few times (less than 5). First it has a horrible chain feel, akin to the Applebees and TGIFs. Its owned by KC Hops so that makes sense. Food looks similarly commercial and bland. The selection is large, lots of taps, unfortunately rarely any rare kegs. Come here only if you know something special will be on tap otherwise you will find a lot of New Belgium, Goose Island, and Blvd common to the stores. Sometimes something special will appear but check in advance. They used to do brewery nights with speakers but have not seen that in a while. As with all KC places the Belgian taps, which they dedicate a few to, are very pricey. | | unclemattie (112), Georgia | | September 21, 2009 I was here the night that Michael Jordan was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Brought back lots of memories of how great he was. Anyway. A nice neighborhood pub. 3 or 4 guys working behind the bar. They offered beer flights, pricey ($9ea), but nice. Had a few of those. Overall, the beer selection was very nice. About 100 taps, a cask pull as well I think. Great Divide Yeti, Lips of Faith, Odell, Bells, Goose Island, and Boulevard. A ate a chicken tender wrap. I was tasty. Odd crowd, lots of cougars about the place. 11sept09 | Gr8fulTed (5), Leawood, Kansas does not count - explanation | | July 28, 2009 Barley’s gives a wide selection of beers. The Mug club membership provides more value and perks, especially on Thursdays, Sundays and Mondays. The outdoor patio w tables gives refuge to the smokers. | | msante79 (253), Mount Prospect, Illinois | | January 28, 2009 Stopped in last night for a brew and some food. Nice bar atmosphere. 99 taps and real nice bottle selection. Very detailed beer list broken down by style then listed as draft or bottle. Mostly regional micros and normal marcos on tap. Had whole Boulevard Smoke Stack 750s line available. Had Duvel, BCS and several other high quality brews available in bottles. With I could of had a couple more. Had the buffalo Chicken wrap for dinner which was pretty good and prices were decent. Would visit often if I lived in area. | ETBG (1), , Kansas does not count - explanation | | August 11, 2008 I’ve enjoyed Barleys for a few years and what better a place to relax and enjoy from a hundred draft beers or more than fifty bottled beers. The food is great too! | rader58 (7), Leawood, Kansas does not count - explanation | | July 5, 2008 Pretty good selection of beers. Many midwest microbreweries. Has a mug club on Monday nights. Newly added outdoor dining area. | | eaglefan538 (91), Wilmington, Delaware | | January 18, 2008 A good stop for drinking good beer and watching sports. Beer selection is quite good, very broad coverage of decent to good midwest brews on draft. Atmosphere is chain-like w/ more of a family feel than a pub or bar. Food was good but didn’t stand out from the big chains that offer similar venues. |
