11 reviews for Lukas Liquor Superstore - Overland Park
Pawola22 (7), Kansas City, Missouri does not count - explanation | | October 19, 2009 I’ll admit I put this into my GPS as "Lukas2" and the KC location as "Lukas1," but it really is equal to the KC Lukas store. They offer a bit of a different selection because of distributors, but still have a vast selection. I like this place because they offer some "no-name" bombers for cheap that end up being pretty tasty. They also offer some CA beers that the KC Lukas doesn’t carry such as Ballast Point. I like the single bottle Goose Island selection, but don’t like how they lack Bell’s. They have a nice mixer sixer selection that is very different from the KC location too. Dieu du Ciel is also available in more than just the Péché Mortel, which I love. Not bad prices, no real customer service, and relatively straightforward shopping. Overall, its my #3 KC area location behind Gomer’s Lees Summit and KC Lukas. | oldredbone (6), Kansas does not count - explanation | | October 15, 2009 The store was ok, very big which is good. I didnt seem to get much help finding stuff. But the selection was decent. | | unclemattie (104), Georgia | | September 21, 2009 Stopped in there 3 times during my stay in Overland Park. Down the street from Barley’s Brewhaus. OMG, the store seems to go on and on. It is already pretty big. After you step in, all of the spirits are right there. Beer is to the left and all along the back wall. I looked to the right and it followed down to the next to stores as if the walls were torn down. It reminded me of the warehouse in the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Beer selection is great. Mixed 6pk in 2 or 3 of the doors on the back wall as well. I loved this place. The help is Average to weak. They don’t really care if they have something or don’t. Don’t really say anything really. Honestly, I can help myself. | | theisti (114), Leawood, Kansas | | January 21, 2008 [ Updated May 15, 2009 ] Big box liquor store, one of the best selections in Kansas, though service is pretty much on your own. They do mix a 6 if you are looking to grab a few different locals. All KC area stores on the Kansas side need to deal with limited distribution. | | HomeBrewHawk (15), De Soto, Kansas | | January 18, 2008 This is across the street from my work, so I stop in often. They have the widest beer selection on the Kansas side of the state line. Service is very hit or miss and sometimes the selection is not very well organized. There is not a lot of cooler space devoted to craft beer. You can build your own six pack from a decent selection of beers warm or cold. Prices are generally pretty good. All in all, if it is available in Kansas, you will probably find it here.
If you are into wine they have a tremendous selection. They also have a humidor with a fairly basic selection of cigars. | | Gregis (23), Shawnee, Kansas | | September 14, 2007 Arguably, this store has the best selection of craft beer on the Kansas side of the state line. The overall experience, however, is much like shopping at a Wal-Mart: large selection and friendly employees, but those employees know little to nothing about the products on their shelves. So, unless you’re looking for Avery, Boulder, Left Hand or the other rare brews that are distributed in Kansas but not in Missouri, go the extra few miles to their Missouri location. There you will find more than double the selection and a few folks that actually drink craft beer. | RedHaze (7), Where the hell am I?, Nebraska does not count - explanation | | January 15, 2007 Stopped in with a friend who wanted to checkthis place out. It’s very large warehouse style building, with an extensive wine and liqour selection. The micro brew selectionwas decent, with New Belgium, Goose Island, Boulder, O’Fallon and pretty much the entire Great Divide line up. The imports selection was better than expected. They had the usuals with Sam Smith’s, Young’s, Paulaner, and Guinness. But they also had a few Deleriums, Samiclaus, Gouden Carolus, La Chouffe and others I can’t remember. There were also a couple bottles of some French ciders.
Service was pretty much nonexistant. There were no employees walking the floor to see if anyone needed any help, and after I tracked someone down, they did not seem to know much about their selections. This was not just for the beers, as my friend had some wine questions that went unanswered.
All said, I will be stopping in the next time I’m in the area. | | KUEric (79), Chevy Chase, Maryland | | May 30, 2006 [ Updated June 3, 2006 ] The place is huge! Can’t believe just how big it is. They allow to build your own six-pack, only problem is that in the cooler where I went to get the beer there was a VERY limited selection of which were allowed to be a part of the build your own, only a touch more in the shelf area, could stand to make that a better selection. But the place is massive, roughly the size of your standard grocery store. Very good store for KS, but considering how close some good MO stores are its tough to truely reccomend this store. | muiscfanatic (2), Overland Park, Kansas does not count - explanation | | February 2, 2006 Huge store. Too big if you ask me. The guy up front wasn’t much help in finding things. There was too much space for the domestic cheap beer. Decent selection of Micro and Import beer though. The build your own 6 was priced right. | | heemer77 (171), Savannah, Missouri | | January 4, 2006 Rating for the 135th St. location. I was able to pick up lots of new singles and some interesting six packs. I was able to get lots of beer I hadn’t seen at Gomer’s or in Wichita. Especially from St. Louis. Also, they sell the six packs on a flat rate and use Ratebeer shelf talkers! |
