We came in here on a Saturday afternoon as its in the 101 Beers Days Out book. The pub was nice in terms of layout and eclectic décor, but was very, very busy which meant hanging around for some time to be served at the bar. I had a nice Youngs London Stout from keg, but otherwise choice was a bit limited. I can imagine this being a nice pub during the week.

Visited in June 2014. Very friendly staff that played allong in our jokes. The selection wasn’t as interesting as other pubs since we get most of these beers in Sweden. But I found a couple of new beers. High ceiliing and allot of people even early in the day.

Managed to squeeze in (6 of us) on our pub crawl on 23rd Nov 2013. Seemed popular and lively, if a bit basic and wooden inside where we were. The ladies wanted a bottle of White Wine while I had a Youngs Bitter and something from Cornwall (a St Austell brew). Quality was fine Staff annoyed me: Rioja is a region apparently, who’d have thought it? Young kids talking down me doesn’t go down well and we left as soon as I’d drank my halves.

Been here a few times in the last 3 years or so. Very handily situated when visiting friends at the more central colleges. A popular pub with fellow students which I could see as irritating to some!

Popular student pub, handily situated at the end of Broad Street between The White Horse and The Turf Tavern. Owned by the now non Brewers, Youngs so gets the Wells produced copies now. Loads of small rooms towards the back with a corridor linking them to the main bar. Generally around 4 Real Ales on plus a range of bottles. Lately Bath Ales have been providing the guest beer. It is generally a scrum at the bar to get served and for some reason, it appears to be cool to pay by card in here which slows the whole process down. The upstairs rooms are student accommodation, hence its popularity, it’s actually owned by Wadham College. The outside seating is very popular too.
Update Dec ’12. Very busy and popular pub. The beer has improved recently, lots of character. Very Good.

A very nice place to some pints in the city centre. Cotleigh 25 4,0% was my choice (20.6.2009).

A multi-roomed Young’s pub, popular with students. The King’s Arms sits in a Georgian building at a busy corner in the centre of Oxford. It’s multi-roomed, light and airy and quite studenty (one of the colleges apparently has a room upstairs), with a smaller locals’ type bar at one side. It’s a little threadbare and frayed at the edges but has a comfortable, lived in feel. They serve meals and snacks which weren’t great but did the trick. We had pork pies which were taken from the fridge (where I imaging they had been defrosting) already on a plate and wrapped in cling film. (Visited 7 January 2012).

A pub with an interesting layout with a choice of rooms ranging from the snug and cosy to the busy and boisterous. Beer range is from the Wells & Young stable and supplemented by Bath Ales, beer is usually in decent nick. Situated in a very pretty area of Oxford in terms of architecture and close to the likes of the White Horse and Turf so worth popping in. I wouldn’t go out of my way to rush in here for the beer as it isn’t that exciting but the quality is good and the pub is usually vibrant and interesting.

Packed with students, but service was still pretty good. Large-ish range of beers. Decent food. OK place smack in the middle of the university.

Big, popular and crowded pub. At least it was on Friday night. Mostly Young’s on 8 casks.
