Very good beer. No tasting at the location but Mark Jilg has done a great job with the beer. Consistency sometimes an issue I have heard but I have always had good beer from Craftsman.

Mark was kind enough to take time out of a busy brew day to take me on a mini tour, and discuss the history of Craftsman and his brew philosophy. Mark spent over an hour with me going over process and the nuances of each beer. His brews show that he is both a perfectionist and a true brewing artist. He also poured me two samples of the Cabernale and his excellent barley wine. Fun place! Hopefully they will start bottling around summer time.

Craftsman is strictly a brewery and is not set up for tastings so call ahead so they know you’re coming. Mark was a great host and we sampled several beers. My wife & I talked w/ Mark for over an hour. It was a great time.

This isn’t a bar or a brewpub, just a small brewery in an industrial park. Having said this, it’s well worth the time to go visit Mark and hear him talk about beer for a while. You can tell he lives for great beer and he really knows his stuff. The beer they brew is excellent although sadly they don’t have anything in bottles to take home with you. He was great about giving us all the samples we wanted, just to sit and listen to him talk. A great experience.

I received special Ratebeerian treatment from Mark here and he brought out a ton of great beers. He was even willing to meet me late on a Saturday afternoon. I had a great time here and he was more than accomodating. As far as being open to the public, I’m not sure, but drop Mark a line (craftsbrewer) and I’m sure he’d love to share a few of his well made beers and talk beer for a while.
