| thome50 (10), Boringville aka Irvine, California | | February 18, 2012 Nice set up with a lot of taps. Usually something that you can’t get in bottles is here. Some of the staff can be a bit off putting but this was not the majority. The growlers are cheap, the fills aren’t always but it’s awesome to get Double Jack fills. The place can get crowded and the service can slow down if people are doing a lot of tasters but never have I seen a huge line that you have to wait more than 10 min in. | | beermaker69 (12), Oceanside, | | July 24, 2011 Food was good. Service was not great. Beer selection is good but their line up has not improved in the last few years. Still a great brewery. | | Canyon24 (10), Altadena, California | | July 12, 2011 Very professional establishment. They have been riding their lineup for sometime now. Wife and I stop by there often on our vacations up north. Food and selection are strong. Their reserve is by far the best beer they offer. | BrooHa (4), New York does not count - explanation | | May 22, 2011 Here for my sister’s wedding weekend. Made the trip up the 101 to what is a beer destination must-do for us East Coasters. Place is airy and inviting. Decent amount of seating that clears out quick and it looks like they’re expanding the bar. Lots of goodies on tap including Velvet Merkin (heheh) and DOUBLE DBA. Had Parabola on tap too. DFL! Decent merch for souvenir-hunters and beer geeks. Special flights paired with cheese AND chocolates. My only knock is that I wish it had a more elaborate menu. But then again, I suppose that’s what the Buellton branch is for. out of Abacus, though. Bummer. | | BMan1113VR (279), Los Angeles, California | | December 22, 2010 A great stop. Right off the 101 just south of Paso Robles. They open at 12 every day. Nice facility. Really small for the world class beers they produce. Parking out front. Tasting bar, merchandise, tables and a big TV playing ESPN. Great beers on tap and available to go. Super fresh Double Jack and 14 in both bottles and on tap. Service was nice. Spoke with Matt for a while. Brewery was bottling and they were doing some sort of construction. Great prices. Food list was short, but my pizza/flat bread (only real option) was very tasty. Mostly older (and friendly) locals bemoaning having to share bottles of 14 with their "budweiser sipping ignoramus inlaws" An awesome stop between LA and SF. Will stop by anytime I make that trip! | mayday035 (4), san jose, California does not count - explanation | | November 25, 2010 Pretty standard tasting room. Good break from the freeway, and the primary attraction is the harder to find firestones. | | Ungstrup (335), Oamaru, New Zealand | | November 18, 2010 A cozy tasting room kept in dark colors from the tiles on the floor to the dark wooden interior. And then it is nice and cool on a hot summer day. We showed up at opening time and instead of just sampling the beers we had a very informative tour of the brewery. The selection in the tasting room were limited, but we had some hard to get stuff and a bottle to take away. | | MartinT (469), Montreal, Quebec | | August 4, 2010 This brewery tasting room is really nothing to write home about, from the design of the place to the absolutely uninterested service behind the bar, from the boring tap menu (where are the specialties?) to the sports on tvs everywhere. I love session ales and Firestone Walkers are all well made, but they are rather round/sweet, so not to my liking for quenching purposes. The only "special" beer on tap was the Parabola, their wonderful Imperial Stout. This brew saved my visit, to be honest. | | IrishBoy (82), Bakersfield, California | | June 14, 2010 [ Updated June 15, 2010 ] I did not realize I had not rated this. Just a hop away from 101 and they sometimes sell 4 oz snifters of Parabola, Velvet Merkin or other specialties but not growlers. I will stop by to see what on draft as I often pass by. | | LtDan (61), Los Angeles County, California | | January 16, 2010 This place is out in the middle of nowhere. A really well designed face and a really small brewery considering how much output they are doing. The bar is stacked with fresh, yummy FSW. The price is right inline with what you’d pay anywhere else for FSW beer. A great place to stop by. |
