I dig the underground feel of this place. Decoration is nothing fancy. A few tables along the wall and seating at the bar. Tap list isn’t extensive but has very nice options. I had a sour and a Two Hearted when I was there last and could have stuck around longer if I wasn’t in a rush. Haven’t ate there but the menu looked interesting. Friendly, knowledgeable bar staff. The lady corrected me on a couple beers but in a friendly fashion (I had gotten the style of a couple mixed up). My lady enjoyed the atmosphere and tap selection, too. A bit more laid back that Eulogy and not as cramped feeling. Good joint.

Sister bar to Eulogy. Would call it a step-sister bar, actually. Unique character, but very basic and a little disorganized inside. Beer selection is a subset of what you can get at Eulogy - maybe half the choices. But they do have some unique drafts that were not available at Eulogy so it’s a chance for variety if nothing else.

Basement pub with surprisingly little ratings considering its Old City location close to Triumph, Eulogy and the likes. I unfortunately missed on the fondues; that would have been pretty interesting though the place is really more of a bar than a restaurant. They made some attempt at recreating the abbey feeling, but it’s either futile or too little and does not build up a nice atmosphere. The fact that the place was almost empty on a monday evening did not help either. The selection was solid on the bottles, but less so than its sister pub (Eulogy) and so was the draught list, focusing a little more on Belgian here and having more ordinary stuff despite the greater quantity. I think I ended up taking a Bells Two Hearted which is always good, but not necessarily something I expected to drink in Philadelphia when heading to Michigan next. Cannot call it a must as other places in town do surpass it in every aspect.

Decent selection of bottles and drafts. Good service, and good food.

Small little place in Old City, Philadelphia. Portions of beer and food served by the ounce. Nice tap selection but I wish they would rotate a little more. Usually they have a 2-3 new ones since the last time I was in, but normally it’s the same. Food is simple. Cheese and chocolate. Can’t go wrong with either! The fondues of either type are sure to please!

Another stop on the walk down Chestnut street to dinner late Saturday night at Morimoto (utterly fantastic and worth every cent). Down a stairway into the basement floor off the street, a lovely little walkdown. The little sister bar to Eulogy and boasting a similar, if accordingly smaller, bottle list including the humorous section about “tv-ad beers (i.e. water)” that they’ll sell you if you’re willing to pay for them. Bottle selection isn’t as deep as Eulogy, but the tap list was nice. Had a Rodenbach and then resumed our course toward Morimoto. Nice and wouldn’t mind a quaint little place like this around.

Walk down into basement and are greated by a nice bar and dim lighting. Food was ok and the beer selection was great. This is a tapas restaurant, each entree is served stand alone and is meant to be combined with others. No where do they alert you to this fact. Waitress could be more up on the beers. Also a little pricey.

Pretty freaking cool bar, specifically set up for beer/wine/cheese/chocolate tasting complete with glass washers right there at the tables... like I would sit at a table pffff.... The bartender was remarkably kind very knowledgeable about beer and excited to discuss everything we ordered... it may not have hurt that we were there at five o’ clock on a weekday. But anyway this place had some really unique beers and I really dug it.

Beneluxx Tasting Room is accessable from the street down some small steps. Once inside, the bar appeared to be under some construction. Aside from that, the ambiamce was great. Menus display a fine variety of beer, wine, chocolate, and cheese. Most of the beer can be sampled ina smaller chalice - however the prices are a bit steep.

Went here after going to Victory’s brewpub. Small Belgian style bar. Cool atmosphere with Belgian flags and stained glass. Looked like it was under construction behind the bar. Beer selection had some things I expected and others that I didn’t recognize at all - and were pretty tasty! Prices were high.
