Only visited the downstairs bar. Very (very) dark candle light only. A little too dark - definitely needs some electric lighting - could barely read the menu (which was in a horrid font and poorly typeset). It’s VERY rare that I go into a bar and recognize only one beer on the entire tap list. The beer selection is unheard of in Philly, but most of the beers score only average to above average here on RB and BA. The few beers that I did recognize were very pricey. Food was very tasty and good, but again was overpriced. $11 for a small lamb burger on an english muffin and $11 for grilled cheese with brie and apples. Sides for both were cole slaw. 2 bartenders working the small bar and several times we felt ignored with empty glasses, empty water glasses, finished dinner plates that sat for a long time and then trying to pay.

Only visited the downstairs... Cool, dark, candle-lit atmosphere with a nice, long bar, a wall of beer bottles, and a mix of single and picnic-style tables. Candles everywhere. Great, knowledgeable service. Excellent selection on draft and in bottles. Very good, hearty food. Not cheap. While it was delicious, $11 for a grilled cheese is a bit much for me. Overall, I really liked the place, and will be going back soon.

Very nice addition to the Philly beer scene! The place is divided into an upstairs and downstairs bar, both entirely illuminated by candlelight. Downstairs is a Euro-themed craft beer bar. Upstairs is a cask-ale saloon. I started upstairs so I’ll begin my review there... Perfect saloon atmosphere with 2 cask ales on tap (I’ve heard there are plans to add 2 more) and about 15 larger bottles to select from. The peanuts were flowing with shells all over the place. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like to throw peanut shells on the floor! Although I didn’t eat upstairs they have a menu of 16 specialty hot dogs and nothing more. I will be back for some dogs! Downstairs, I had a few more beers and dinner. The atmosphere was outstanding and the beer selection is top-notch. They only serve European craft beers, the majority of which I had never even heard of. I’ve never seen a beer list like it. I had the Bavarian pretzel and the duck confit sandwich. Both excellent. I will certainly be back, hopefully very soon!
