Decent selection of draft beers and one botal Orval. Good food and OK service.

Comfy little place near Penn University with a small, but well chosen, selection, of drafts - and Orval on bottle. Decebt food and excellent service make for something off the beaten path.

I have finally been to the place enough times to feel I can get a handle on reviewing it. My first time was not great and I wasn’t sure i would ever come back. The place was new and seemed confused as to what kind of place it was trying to be - restuarant, neighborhood bar, trendy nightspot, whatever. It wasn’t any of these. Now that I have been back a few times, I have come to enjoy this place. The bar area isn’t large but has a very warm feel to it. All that wood, the darkness, etc. overcome even the multiple large TV’s to tend it toward that cozy neighborhood feel. Nearly twenty taps and two hand-pumps are divided up into a great range of options, so beer selection is this place’s strong point. The bartenders are very attentive. The "restaurant" half, on the other hand, is cramped, noisey and uncomfortable. The food is mixed. Try the hushpuppies, fritters or any of the breakfast "sandwiches." The burgers, fish and chips, wings and other barfood were meso-meso. There are nice set of vegetarian options. The only complaints I have are that they constantly seem to run out of glassware and, when they are busy, they want to hustle you out of the "dining" area. They basically kick you out, if you are finished eating, even if you are still ordering beers, etc. All-in-all though, this is a great addition to West Philadelphia and...especially earned points by offering me a shot at RR’s Younger and Registration Ale :)

Went here for the Philly Beer Week Russian River event. A nice place, even when packed, we still got a table for lunch. Great tap selection, and rotates. They also have a hand pump, and I had Fullers Chiswick Bitter. Nice atmosphere, good beer, good food. Check it out if you can.

Situated right on the corner and almost hard to miss, but definitely worth finding. Stopped here as the first leg of our own little Philly Beer Raid tour, going to Resurrection Ale House and then Memphis Taproom next. Laid back local feel, large open spaces, but I could easily envision this place being packed late on a weekend, given the young hip feel to both the place, and the neighborhood in which it is located. Cool menus with old patent diagrams, a different one on the back of each. Brings to mind the old farm equipment on the labels of a lot of Russian Rivers beers. Very cool. Nice food selection, with a healthy amount of vegetarian options including a falafel sandwich which I had to pass up given the intent to hit two more places after, hopefully with food at each. Did get the white bean dip, which was rather tasty and seasoned very well. Love that the bottle list here is just one. Ballsy. Another great place I’d love to have as my local bar.

Cool beer bar in West Philly, good food, and a good mellow vibe. 1 bottle always on, is orval, can’t complain about that. 20 something above average taps and 2 casks. I have to say I liked this place.

This place is run by the same guy that runs the Memphis Taproom and he is ballsy. In fact, he is so incredibly ballsy he only has one bottled beer (orval) and other then that, a draft selection that to me is the best in the city. Diverse, lots of hard to find stuff, in Center city Philly, you can’t beat it. Great value, Great food. I had the PoBoy Oyster mushroom sandwich and it was probably one of the best sandwiches ever. Paired with Fullers(CASK)(IN AMERICA)ESB. It don’t get much better at all. I feel like this place(and the memphis taproom) should be the gold standard of all bars in the country.
