5 reviews for Royal Tavern
| bp (47), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | | November 15, 2009 Nice little bar with a decent beer selection. You won’t find anything rare here but they do have Ballast Point, Sixpoint, Stone, etc on draft. A few bottles as well. Really, the reason to come here is for the food and to have a decent craft beer while you eat. Worth a stop if you want something good to eat. | | JFGrind (64), Glenside, Pennsylvania | | July 10, 2009 [ Updated August 7, 2009 ] I go to the Royal tavern from time to time for a business lunches. After each visit I wonder why I just don’t stop at the Royal Tavern for leisure drinking, or to take the missus for a meal. I’ve only been there in the afternoon, service is great, always prompt, menu specials and a great draft variety. Just off the Italian Market, that can make a nice afternoon of shopping and ducking into local watering holes like this in the neighborhood. | | WeeHeavySD (102), San Diego (Hillcrest), California | | June 25, 2009 This was my first stop in Philly not for any beer reason but one that my girlfriend wanted to go here for lunch since they have awesome vegan food and awesome food for that matter. Decent selection of beer mostly local stuff but a definitely worth white place to go, if you can get there. | | kkearn (21), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | | April 17, 2007 Stopped here for lunch last Saturday. Above average draft selection (Piraat, Stoudts Scarlet lady, Yards Philly Pale, Sly Fox Helles, Dentergems Wit, DFH Aprihop, Youngs Oatmeal Stout, Stone IPA) and some good bottles (LaChouffe, Orval, Delirium Tremens and Nocturnum, Chimay, Duvel, Franz Hefe, La Fin du Monde). Service was good. Food was upscale bar food; i had a really tasty grilled cheese sandwich with sweet potato fries. We just missed out on the brunch menu. It’s within Philly city limits, so it’s non-smoking. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. | | xproudfoot (37), Paleolithic, Pennsylvania | | February 11, 2006 Nice old bar with tons of wood. Recently they’ve been classing up the selection a bit, with sly fox, yards, wild goose, etc on tap, and some nice bottle from standards like unibroue, la chouffe, chimay. Heard they’ve had barleywine on tap at times? The service was competent, the food is pretty darn good for bar stuff, and the patrons are a friendly lot. The bathrooms are pretty clean, too... overall one of the classier beer places in south philly. |
