| Capa (172), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | | February 2, 2012 Great beer bar in the Fairmount neighborhood. Always bringing in hard to find and tasty Belgian and Belgian inspired brews as well as top-notch crafts of different styles. Service has always been very good both at the bar and in the dining room. Food is excellent. Can be pricey but I think that is more because of the caliber of the beer and less being overpriced. I won’t say I always stop in here (mainly becuase I’m not the biggest of Belgian beer fans) but I’m always happy when I do. | | F_radar (30), Paris.Bxl.Geneve, France | | October 8, 2011 Cadre super agréable, magnifique terrasse dans un quartier résidentiel, si vous êtes pas geek un bel endroit | jrodooo5 (5), Wilmington, Delaware does not count - explanation | | July 28, 2011 An out of this world neighborhood bar in Philly! I fell in love w/ my first glance at the beer list. Very affordable prices for some of the greatest beer in the world. Highly recommended. | | TURDFERGUSON (117), Carrboro, North Carolina | | July 26, 2011 Heard this place is owned by the same people that own Monks. They did have the monks cantillon gueuze which I had after a long day and night of drinking. Service at the bar was a tad questionable at times and the beer list was far less impressive than Monks or many of the other bars I visited in philly. | | zdk (79), New York, New York | | July 6, 2011 Place had the benefit of being only a few blocks away from the RBSG’11 hotel. Only got to stop in once, but it was well worth it. Great bottle selection and decent number of taps, prices were excellent for a bar ($5 pints of chocolate yeti?!). got my fill of Russian river beers which paired nicely with the best veggie burger I’ve ever had. Really tasty fries, great ambience (though I imagine it gets crowded, we came at a good time)... This place is excellent in terms of price and quality, though don’t expect to come here for dozens of new ticks, I suppose. | | jredmond (111), Manhattan, New York | | August 14, 2010 Nice Belgian bar located conveniently in the Art Museum area of Philadelphia. The bar has nice indoor and outdoor seating and a great feel for the bar section. They usually have over 10 taps of pretty interesting brews that are on a decent rotation. The bottle selection is extensive but nothing insane. | TonyDiUlio (6), New Jersey does not count - explanation | | June 22, 2010 Boy do I love this bar. The selection is incredible. The people are even better. and the food isn’t bad either. I would highly recommend the fries if you are going. they are the best fries I have ever had. | | patrickfannon (16), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | | June 21, 2010 Since April, I’ve been to The Belgian Cafe many times with James (JRedmond) and big Tony (TonyDiUlio). This place is awesome. The bar is incredibly nice, and almost never crowded. Great selection of domestic and imported crafts. Usually about 10-15 different brews on tap, and a huge bottle selection as well. Prices are reasonable for both food and beer, and the staff is filled with genuinely nice, outgoing, friendly bartenders and servers. The laid-back, yet classy atmosphere is hard to match. Outside seating for nice days and nights. Great pommes frites. Fantastic bar. Stop in for a basket of frites and a tall, cold draft. | | Pwn3d (61), Manhattan, New York | | March 28, 2010 Went here with TonyDiUlion and JRedmond on a quite Thursday night. Taps were both Belgian classics and American craft. Maybe 9 or 10 taps... Bottle selection was much more extensive... all the classics with a few unusuals. In all, totaling over a hundred brews. Prices were pretty good, small glasses were started at 3 bucks, which we used to sample.. approx 10 oz, and 5 for full pint sized. Nice ambiance.. a traditional Belgian taproom feel. | | watson1977 (55), The dub c, Pennsylvania | | March 14, 2010 bar section is dimly and warmly lit with nice dark hardwood floors and bar. another slim bar with stools is located against the wall directly opposite the bar...a nice atmosphere to enjoy conversation and good beer. restaurant side is slightly brighter and decorated with nice paintings. service on the restaurant side could have been better...the server was very unaccomadating when my friend wanted to modify the menu iitem she was ordering. food was outstanding just as it is at monk’s and the beer selection is very nice. belgium is beautifully represented on the beer list but i do wish founders made an appearance on the u.s. beer list. i enjoyed a very nice meal with great beers at a very fair price. i’d definitely go again and eat at the bar next time. |
