| drpimento (55), La Crosse, Wisconsin | | October 20, 2009 Heavy smell of bleach but otherwise an old tavern type place with a great selection of draft beer, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful bartenders and patrons. The draft beer selection (about 40) was much larger and better than the bottle selection and included great micros and Belgians. First time I’ve seen an internet jukebox. Specials every night including Monday’s bingo boobies night. Sunday they had a hot dog for a buck that was tasty. On the other end the toilet had a nasty smell. Went twice and watched the Phillies in playoff - good fun! Great pub atmosphere including remanents of it’s former ID as a Jaegermeister bar. | lumpy38 (1), Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | March 13, 2009 Great little gem in the midst of all the overhyped clubs in this part of town. Stumbled into the place for happy hour on a Friday and have been visiting frequently ever since. The craft beer selection is ridiculous.....if you can’t find something for your pallet then just ask the bartenders and they will be more than happy to steer you in the right direction. Probablly one of the best draught beers bars in Philadelphia. Definitely one the best valued beer bars in Philly. Bottom line.....great place to enjoy great beer with all walks of life. Good work...keep it up | couzined (1), , Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | December 19, 2008 This one seems to have it all! Once you step inside this little dive, the first thing your eyes catch is the tap wall of 40 great craft beers. It is like a candy store for adults. The variety is ever-changing...weekly...sometimes even daily. The prices are insanely cheap for this part of the city. Hell, happy hour is from 5pm-7pm...7 DAYS A WEEK! Happy Hour means almost all 40 beers for only $3 and shots are $3, too. The fact that you can sit there and drink pint after pint of Dogfish 90 minute for only $3 is crazy. On top of that the staff is extremely cool...making even strangers feel comfortable. They have a good knowledge of the beer they pour, but never come off as too beer-snobby. The best part of the place could very well be the ambience...grungy, divey, largest selection of music I have ever heard (great stuff, but never stuff you hear all the time in every other damn bar), and every walk of life ventures in and out of this place. You know it must be great when your first visit convi | Miamifan1354 (5), , Delaware does not count - explanation | | November 2, 2008 Found this place by accident. Formally Jagers, now The Irish Pol. They have 40 beers on tap, 95% of the Micros. Talked to the Owner, and he said they change out the taps once a week. Had some well known stuff (DFH 90min, Hop Devil, Imperial Stout) and stuff I had never seen on tap anywhere (Hoptimus Prime!) It was pretty tasty. Food was below average, just pub food. Chicken Fingers and Motz Sticks.
Not the nicest place inside at all. Maybe 20 seats at the bar, and like one or two tables. They had a second floor, but I didn’t make it up. Bathroom was disgusting, but the beer selection made up for that. I will be back, maybe tonight! |
