Pawola22 (7), Kansas City, Missouri does not count - explanation | | November 11, 2009 Visited on a Friday at around 5. Early enough where I didn’t really notice a dinner crowd, but each seat at the bar was taken. Definitely a trendy looking place. They kept it faily dark, but the design was pretty nice. Service was fast, friendly, and most of them seemed to know their beer. They had a nice selection and even a brewer’s reserve sour ale, which was decent. Also of note, this was a full stocked bar and had plenty of wine and liquor. The beer was solid. Neither unexceptional nor superb. I had one of their appetizer pizzas which was good enough as well. Overall, a solid place that I could see myself visiting again. | | CanIHave4Beers (55), Des Moines, Iowa | | October 13, 2009 Trendy looking Joint. Comfortable enough though. The bar is epically long but this doesn’t seem to hinder the staff from providing fast and friendly service. I didn’t try the food but the beer was all good if not great. I liked that they tackled a number of different beer styles with some good success... but that’s what a good brew pub does. | | PilsnerPeter (95), Flushing, New York | | September 22, 2009 Big interior with a new age look- slightly trendy and caters to young nightlife seekers. Decent selection- 8 regular taps of an eclectic mix. Beers are all fairly solid brewpub offerings. The sampler is $8 ( $1 a sample) which is not bad. The bartender was attentive, however, she didn’t know beer. Also, when she gave me the sampler she never offered me the brewers reserve, which at this time was a sour ale that was actually very nice. Good thing I found it on the back chalkboard on the way to the restroom. Overall a nice stop with solid offerings. | | MaltDawg (11), Richmond, Virginia | | September 16, 2009 Old Town area with modern open well lighted decor. Had a sampler of eight beers on tap, all were better than average. Friendly staff. | | gws57 (86), Saint Charles, Illinois | | July 8, 2009 Visited on a busy Friday for lunch. Service was ... slow, even for a busy Friday lunchtime. Food was pretty good but standard. The place was unusual but not bad. Beer was generally speaking good. I liked it and would revisit. | | WeeHeavySD (102), San Diego (Hillcrest), California | | June 23, 2009 I liked this place a lot, it has a great vibe inside and a solid tap list with a good variety in terms of styles and flavors. Didn’t have the food but I imagine it would be good. | | elihapa (62), Honolulu, California | | May 29, 2009 Wow, surprised this place got as low a rating as it did! I suppose as a beer drinker, six microbrewed taps is just too little? I suppose. But the ambiance of this place is easily the best of the Triumphs I’ve been to, and my girlfriend and I tried two pretty stellar offerings in the Coffee-Cream Stout, and Imperious. I would go back, but I do see getting bored of drinkin the same stuff every time. | | JCB (35), Durham, North Carolina | | May 22, 2009 Stopped in for lunch on a Friday and it was quite pleasant. Decor was a little bit overdone and chi-chi for what the brewpub is going for, but whatever. Nice selection of taps (though I was disappointed that they didn’t do growlers - say something on the website, yo). Food was okay: we had a falafel which was kind of the mall version of falafel (mayo type dressing rather than tahini, yeah). But certainly the beer and the service were quite nice. | | 41cubs (14), , New Jersey | | May 18, 2009 Really cool design at this place in a great part of town. It gets extra points from me just for being across the street from Eulogy. The iron work in the bar and dining rooms is very cool and the natural materials really add to the comfort level. They break up both levels of the pub into smaller more intimate spaces but it is actually really big inside. Probalbly 20 barstools and about 8-10 beers on tap, all house beers. I had the le cinq and the coffee and cream both of which were solid to very good ( le cinq was very good). Didn’t have any food or see a menu. Cool place. | | JoeMcPhee (262), Jackson Heights, New York | | March 21, 2009 Our trip here was one of the worst brewpub experiences I’ve ever had... but I can’t even say I was pissed because it was so bad that it almost descended into satire. Loud obnoxious music, a shitty dj playing shittier music and more tank top toppling titties than I’ve seen in a brewpub in quite some time... I assume it was the unseasonably warm day that brought out the college aged cleavage. I don’t mind looking at some cleavage, but when it’s attached to slurring drunken chicks drinking apple-tinis at a brewpub I’m less enamoured with it.
The beer itself was a bit of a mixed bag. I ordered a full pint of the Jewish Rye since that stiff is normally incredible, but here it was thin-bodied and lacking in complexity. They did have a few solid takes on other styles however, particularly a Dry Stout. I suspect we just got unlucky with our timing, but man, on this night, this place sucked. |
